I love this book and the story of a small piece of American Politics being taken back by the people. I have followed Dave Brat's campaign and then congressional career since he won against the incumbent.But I don't just like the book because I like Dave Brat. I like it because it is about a real, smart, well-read person who understands history and economics going to bat for regular folks. We don't reach all students real history as we used to. Our Congress consistent;y votes for things that don't make any economic sense. I don't know if they are corrupt or they really don't understand economics. In Mr. Brat's case, he isn't corrupt and he really understands economics.Mr. Brat is humble and acknowledges the help from many people around him.He is clear and to the point about who was running the machine to keep the establishment in power. They use the same tricks of ignoring laws and rules when it suits them.Our Constitution was built to protect regular people from the government. It is meant to restrict the government's power. This book clearly describes and details how the leaders are trying to grab more power. We have the power to stop them, every election day and if we have a Convention of States. We have to understand who is trying to take power from us. We have to see the danger of people ignoring the Constitution and the law.I recommend this book.Keep up the fight, Dave !
Terrific book. Very informative. Gets to the heart of the Federal Government's budgetary problems, calling them moral ones, rather than economic or financial. Dave is an unusual politician, just the type we need in DC. All of that "Tea Party" nonsense they and the Freedom Caucus get tagged with is ridiculous. These are just regular Americans applying the principles we were founded on, principles that are just as good today as they were then, except better because we have so much more experience and data proving them to be true. Such used to be moderate and quite common, "common sense." That fact that it isn't today in the U.S. shows just how lost we are now!! You will get a fun moral education by reading this. Thank you, Dave Brat!
Dave Brat is a great guy. I have heard him speak many times on the radio, and always enjoy it. He has a perfect voting record in defense of the American people. Dave shares great history and many facts of the corruption of our political class who now think of themselves as our ruling class. This is a great read, highly recommended!
