The anthrax letter attacks occurred from September through November of 2001, killing five and wounding many. The attacks were widely held to be the work of Muslims and were used to support the invasion of Afghanistan and, later, the invasion of Iraq. They were used explicitly and repeatedly to justify the passing of the Patriot Act. They were also meant to support withdrawal from the Antiballistic Missile Treaty, a withdrawal eagerly sought by the neoconservatives associated with the Project for a New American Century who wished to pursue their global agenda without obstruction from small states with WMD. In the early days of the attacks there were several perpetrator hypotheses in play. One that gained prominence was the Double Perpetrator hypothesis according to which Iraq had supplied the sophisticated anthrax spores while al-Qaeda had supplied the foot soldiers responsible for preparing and sending the letters. This hypothesis was eagerly reported by the mainstream media. It came to grief quickly when scientists discovered that the anthrax spores had a domestic source and appeared to come from the heart of the US military and intelligence communities. The FBI rapidly began a search for "the anthrax killer," promoting the idea that there was a lone wolf perpetrator within the military community--a renegade, an unbalanced person whose behavior revealed nothing of significance about structures and institutions of the deep state. In 2008 the Bureau named Dr. Bruce Ivins of the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases as the "anthrax killer." Ivins had conveniently died a week before being named and could not fight back in court. Ivins remains the FBI's choice to this day: the case was closed in 2010. This book support with a great deal of evidence the following four assertions: (a) the anthrax letter attacks were carried out by a group of perpetrators, not by a “lone wolf;” (b) the group that perpetrated this crime was composed, in whole or in part, of deep insiders within the U.S. state apparatus; (c) these insiders were connected to the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks; (d) the anthrax attacks were meant to play an important role in the strategy of redefinition through which the Cold War was replaced by a new global conflict framework, the Global War on Terror.

Graeme MacQueen is that rarest of breeds--a well known figure in the 9/11 truth movement whom I implicitly trust as being honestly dedicated to unraveling the tangled web of lies surrounding the 9/11 attacks, of which the mostly forgotten and/or ignored anthrax attacks were an integral part. This painstakingly footnoted work shows how individuals in the mainstream media and Bush administration used the threat of bio-terror to not just push through the Patriot Act with minimal review by Congress but also to provide a perceived link between Saddam Hussein's Iraq and 9/11--a key element in the selling the needless and disastrous war to remove Saddam Hussein to the American public. Few may remember that on the eve of the invasion 69% of Americans believed Hussein was to some extent involved in the 9/11 attacks. Even fewer that John McCain actually used his time on the David Letterman show to suggest that the anthrax used in the October 2001 mailings "may" have come from Iraq. MacQueen's book takes us back in time to observe the events unfold, such that the plan becomes more than obvious--while America first became aware of the anthrax letters on October 10, 2001, the Bush administration and figures in the media had for weeks already been suggesting that al Qaeda would attempt another attack, "perhaps" using anthrax. At the core of MacQueen's argument is the inescapable conundrum--was it merely a lucky coincidence that an alleged "lone nut" with no ties to Islam or Iraq provided the Bush/Neocons with the exact type of attack they had been preparing America for in order to gin up support for their agenda, one that required a credible threat posed not just by Islamic terrorists but by Saddam Hussein? If you're still not sure this book is worth reading, then check out Prof. MacQueen's May 2010 talk at Harvard's Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, available on YouTube. I consider this one of the most important books about 9/11 in the last few years. It also addresses one of the most blatant false-flag conspiracies associated with that event. MacQueen demonstrates persuasively that the attacks cannot be written off (as the US media and FBI have attempted to do) as the work of a lone mad scientist. For one thing, the level of weaponization was too sophisticated to be a one-man job, least of all by the FBI's designated culprits. For another, the propaganda build-up about Iraq''s anthrax dovetails too neatly with the dates that the anthrax letters were sent. Everyone interested in 9/11 should read this important book.
Once a professor of, among other things, Asian Religious Studies with a focus on Buddhism, MacQueen, already an able rhetorician, brings a Zen like clarity to the telling of the story of the anthrax attacks which began in September of 2001. In a clear every-man kind of prose, MacQueen relates an alarming account of government duplicity and prevarication. MacQueen does not eschew his academic roots as the whole of the, well researched, book is underscored by hundreds and hundreds of end notes that do not interrupt the flow of the narrative. This quick read is both an asset for the curious and because of its careful and meticulous construction, a benchmark and standard for historical researchers of the historicity of our times.
Very easy to read. The events very clearly shows these forgotten horrific attacks were perpetrated by those same people who created the 9/11 event. The Anthrax attack was to connect terrorists to a state - Iraq. It proved untrue but that made no difference to the American TV audience, already petrified and willing to accept any fraud. Very glad to have read this - I forgot the Anthrax Attack - the 5 victims from Oct 3 to late November were murdered by those despicable killers of 9/11. I wish more had been written about the While House began taking Cipro on 9/11 - this seems conclusive to me that they knew Anthrax was coming. A guy with a failing heart is not going to take a powerful antibiotic on a chance - no, there was a certainty known. A very ugly business by the worst kind of people and covered once again by the suicidal lone nut - who believes this crap - nothing ever reached a court.
MacQueen, in writing this book, positively shows that the entire swath of events, before, during and after the attacks themselves on 9/11/2001 were well planned, fairly well executed, and had a consistant, solid and clear objective...aka...replacing the defunct and CIA "propped-up" USSR as the "enemy of the west" with the Muslim World. However, the biggest issue of ALL the exposures now seen from the 9/11 attacks is that the perpetrators planned on using the corporate press to accomplish this world-wide "psy-op" and fearmongering event. AND this was/is true even if it required a blatant course reversal [read: more lying ] which MacQueen clearly exposes. The deep meaning is that...that the corporate perpetrators HAVE FULL CONTROL OF MAINSTREAM MEDIA in the anglo world...the USofA, Great Brittain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. And THAT THIS FULL CONTROL OF THE MEDIA holds a far worse future than the 9/11 attacks themselves. Information control represents the biggest challenge to the world ahead of us if we want to improve democracies, stop thes insane wars, and affect positive and effective environmental repairs, and affect a change of approach so badly needed to heal the planet.
