I got this book for my world civilizations class, but decided after I looked at it that this was staying on the coffee table. Lots of great and beautiful pictures, clear textual information, and a generally presentable format make this a good investment for anyone interested in an overview of ancient civilizations.
Awesome, This book was in better condition than the one I have to replace for 1/3 the cost. It's a well enough written book that I'd like to someday own it for myself but unfortunately I have to return this one to my schools bookstore.
I didn't choose the book initially, it was thrust upon me by a teacher, as it is a text book. Honestly, the book is fascinating, gives great evidence, creates interesting hypothesis with room to grow. Very well written, and fun to read! Check it out!
College books are without a doubt exorbitant. I am so pleased to have found the book I need for class at such a great price. Shipping was speedy and it came in excellent condition for a used book. I'd definitely recommend. Thanks.
Not the greatest shape, but a very good overview of world history. The prehistory section had many good ideas and rational suppositions, but it also contained many more poorly researched and under supported guesses. I would recommend it as a supplement to a solid curriculum. Not as a stand-alone text.
I purchased this book and Volume 2 for my PHIL 106 class. They are both very well written and well laid out. They are both chocked full of great information for the aspiring student.
This book was in very good condition, I received it quickly, and it was exactly what I needed. The information in this book is very good. I found it most interesting in the beliefs of the Mayans and Indians - this is in the first chapter of the book. It is amazing how many cultures and beliefs began so similar. One of the things that really caught my interest, was the information regarding China. The first emperor of China - "The Qin Dynasty" and the Underground Terracotta Army life size pottery figures of soldiers, each soldier with different features. This book also has great information about the Buddha beliefs.
This book was the required text for my daughter's Humanities class. The information is very thorough and factual. It was a good choice that the instructor made. This historical book is excellent.
