The stories are fresh and new. I was expecting many to be re-prints of some of other books. One story was very close, but still a great read.I highly recommend this volume and am eagarly waiting for volume five.
I purchased this book for my husband. He has read the majority of western in excistance and loves Louis L'Amour. He says he enjoys these because he can sit down and read every evening and have a reason to stop at a reasonable hour. If you are a avid reader you understand that once you start a good book you just can't stop reading until the end. With these he reads a few short stories and calls it good. He has started paraphrasing the stories to our sons 4 and 6 and they are also enjoying these books. He says it is almost always the same story line, but the details are what makes it so interesting.
I never read Louis Lamour as a child and only recently discovered him. These stories are well written and an easy read, which I find refreshing - as most of the books I read are between 300 and 1000 pages. It's nice to read something that wraps itself up in a short amount of time, that is set in a simpler era when life was less complicated. It's a breath of fresh air.
I enjoyed this collection of short stories immensely. Soon as one ends you can't wait to start on the next one. I especially enjoyed the stories that kept some of the same characters and locations. Great read.
Loved the book, it arrived on time and in good order. I have all 7 of his short story volumes now and enjoy being able to read his writings in short doses without having to commit to a much longer story. He has developed some outstanding characters in his short story series.
great stories of the west . loved em . all about the great old west and how it was out there with a embellishment of sorts.
Louis L'Amour is the best Western writer in the last 60 years. He goes into much detail as to the layout of the area where each story takes place. I have all of his Frontier Stories in his Collected Short Stories series. Enjoyable reading!A master storyteller.
seems to be more of a mans book- lot's of action - page turner - good writing by a man who has traveled the world and is a prolific writer about westerns, the high seas, aviation, and street fighting
