This is a series of linked stories involving crime, by a variety of authors. Previous collaborations have tended to focus on an artefact such as a sword through the ages. This however concentrates on the town of Bath and particularly a hill outside it called in modern times Solsbury Hill.We are told that the Romans built villas near here, King Arthur fought a battle here, then moving forward various thievery and murders occurred too. A monastery is the site of one tale, the unwrapping of an Egyptian mummy is the focus of another.My favourite story was about the strolling player who came with the King's Men from the Globe to put on plays in Bath.The tale of the abbey was just a matter of here are the suspects, who could it be; while the others all told proper adventure stories.A decent read awaits with a variety of styles and periods.
I have enjoyed all these authors separately in novels and find the format (different characters in different time periods with the same problem) fascinating.
I enjoyed it. I have read others in the series and have long been a Jecks fan.
