Created to Be His Help Meet, first published 10 years ago, has sold over 500,000 copies in 12 languages. I am amazed, reading the testimonies of woman in England, India, Saudi Arabia, China, Australia, and many other countries, as they share how their marriages have been saved and enriched through these biblical truths. Over the years I have learned from these many women, and, responding to their cries for help, have added TWO NEW CHAPTERS and other small revisions to address their needs. One of the new chapters is called, Servant or Servitude? There is a difference. One is godly, the other devilish. Did we fail to make that distinction clear enough the first time around? Some have indicated such. So we tackled the subject head on. May God continue to bless you as you read and obey the wonderful words of God. The night my husband had a major heart attack, while in transport to the hospital, and in terrible pain, he grabbed my hand and made me promise I would write the book for ladies that I had been planning to write for over 20 years. I had boxes of papers that dated back to my young teens that included notes gleaned from sermons by preacher long since dead, tidbits from newspapers, pages ripped from several decades of old Sunday School journals and magazines, and jotted down notes uttered by many unsuspecting ladies. Anything concerning marriage that found a place in my heart and in an old box was kept. When my husband came home from the hospital he set up an office for me. He patiently taught me how to cut and paste and several other tricky things on the computer until he was sure I could do my job. Then very early every morning for three weeks he walked me to my new office and said he would be back with my lunch and supper. I went through the old box of wisdom, typed in the things I found inside, looked up the Scriptures, and wrote what was on my heart. Created to Be His Help Meet came together quickly. After I was finished, he worked several weeks editing the messy document. Then right after Christmas of 2004, the first books rolled off the press. It is 2014, the 10th anniversary. I am glad to report my husband has not only survived, he has thrived. Created to Be His Help Meet has thrived as well. It is now in 12 languages, with contracts from different publishing companies and distributors all over the world. Today more is sold in China than here in the USA. Women all over the world are learning how to honor their husbands. They are opening up their Bibles to see if the things I wrote are really in the Bible. Many are falling in love for the first time in their married life as they lay down anger and bitterness and learn to be cherished. Some are coming to know the Savior, and many of the ladies write that their husbands are willing to consider God due to the amazing change in their life. We have seen good fruit; much good fruit. I now have another box stuffed with ideas, letters I have received these last few years from women who read the book and expressed concerns they feel I failed to address-this is why we added the two new chapters and made revisions to other chapters My God bless you as you seek Him. He has surely blessed me and mine.

Well let's start by saying that all those negative 1 star reviewers out there didn't make an effort to apply anything from this book. Secondly if you are in a physically abusive relationship you should go somewhwere safe NOW!! All the reviewers out there that imply this book advises you or loved ones to continue being physically abused are lieing!!! If any of them actually read it they would have gotten to the part about how to deal with different types of abuse. Like how?? In this book you are advised to either let it go (in some forms of verbal, mental and emotional abuse) and recognize/ work on why he may resort to this. Stand up for yourself and speak in calm truth and dignity (again in verbal, mental and emotional abuse) while seeking underlying issues and finding resolutions. In other forms of abuse this book advises you to CALL AUTHORITIES NOW!!Now my review: I was skeptical of this book when I started but quickly realized that the simple lessons on supporting my honey have made my life so much easier!!! Gone are the days of being sour to him when he comes home from work late. ( what was I trying to prove? That I'm not glad he got home safely to tuck his babies in bed?) Gone are the days of trying to force my conscience on him (I was creating such tension and had no idea). Gone are the days of my feeling like a failure because I didn't complete everything on my own agenda (what's more important getting my endless list complete or making him smile because I'm happy to sit on the couch and hold his hand and put him first). Gone are the days of wishing he would treat me like a queen becausw now I really do feel like a queen!!!! Why??? Because now I know how to treat him like a king!!!!
I have followed the Pearls for awhile now and this includes Michael Pearls teaching to men, and what it means to be submissive.There is absolutely nothing in his teaching that says that women need to be blindly obedient or not have opinions.. or to be a non-person. He has a video on You Tube where he discusses this. I would encourage you to watch this video before you comment on what you believe his or Debis perspective to be.This is not a book for men to read and wag in their wives face. Debi is hard on women in places because she is directing her teaching to women and women ALONE. This is not an instruction book for men to use to correct their wives!I'm single and don't have this book for relationship advice, but I have it to help me to be a Godly, discerning and wise woman as I move into my later years.
Fabulous book. Yes, I wanted to throw it against the wall a couple of times, and no I don't agree with every word, but I have to say it has changed my marriage and those of several women with whom I counsel. As a result of reading this book, I see the "marriage scriptures" in a new light. I am so thankful for this invaluable resource.
This book is a VERY good read! It meets every woman's heart issues whether you're married for one day or over 50 years! If you don't like what information is in this book you aren't ready to live a peaceful life with your mate!
This is an excellent book written by a Godly woman who understands what the bible says a wife should be. She does not sugar coat it but tells it straight, just how it is. This book is FULL of Biblical truth and wisdom and any woman who is SERIOUS about her walk with the Lord and is or intends to become a wife should read, study and learn what Debbie (an older woman in the church) has to teach you. Do it right and your life and marriage can be filled with peace, love, joy, security and contentment. Do it wrong and at best you might stay married and both be miserable or at worst find yourself growing old bitter and alone. God honors obedience to His word. Women, you hold the keys! Are you strong enough to do it God's way? With His power you are! Let Debbie show you the way.
God's principles are always best and when we follow them we will have blessed marriages full of unspeakable joy. This book doesn't beat around the bush. Debi's no-nonsense approach is refreshing. Our culture has fed women a lie. But God's word gives us the truth and hope.
The best book on Christian marriage I've ever seen. Does not tippy- toe around and try to be tactful; tells it like it is, and calls sin sin! This is the wake up call that is desperately needed for fundamental believers. In my experience, I have read ,and heard from the pulpit, much rebuke directed at the men, but very little to the wives. This book brought to light truths that I had never recognized before, such as women tending to see themselves as more "spiritual" than their husbands, and expecting the husband to earn their approval. I came under conviction within a few pages! It is a powerful, pull-no-punches, convicting book. It does not surprise me that there are quite a few negative reviews...if a wife is in rebellion,is convinced she is right and has a prideful,unteachable spirit, she will HATE this book.She will not get the "warm fuzzies", an" I'm with you, girlfriend, men just don't get it!" mentality,or a free pass on bad attitudes. If you want that stuff there is plenty out there to choose from; never made any difference in my heart,but this book sure has.
