This book was recommended to us when we received a probable diagnosis but it would take time before getting the evaluations needed to start therapy. It's very easy to read and offers useful strategies to engage your ASD child immediately. It has totally changed the way we interact with our son. Everyday activities like playing with toys, playing outside, mealtime, bath time, etc can be used to encourage your child to interact with others.
I found this book to be extremely informative with real life ways to help your child make progress with their ability to communicate, sustain joint attention, and begin back and forth interactions! I only wish I had read it earlier! I can't say enough nice things about the progress my son has been making with the activities mentioned in this book!
Great book for parents/grandparents of children who have been diagnosed as on the spectrum. Easy for lay person to understand and great ideas for connecting with these children in a manner that will help them.
Easy to use this book as a reference for ideas when working with children under 3. Extremely helpful ideas.A must for a parent .
This was recommended to me by one of our doctors, and of the several books on autism I have read in the last year since receiving the diagnosis, this was the best. I would definitely recommend it.
I enjoyed the activities it suggests to do with your autistic child. It even suggests types of toys and books. As I read it, I felt as though I was able to really "feel".
My son has been recently diagnosed at 19 months and I was overwhelmed trying to find books/materials that were appropriate for his level of development. This book is perfect for the newly diagnosed child and specifically for younger children. It gave me step by step instructions on how to start engaging my child and strategies that are easily implemented into every day activities. I would recommend this to anyone just starting off. It has been a God-send for me.
Haven't received a proper diagnosis yet... Still I found this book to be full of suggestions that I can employ with my son to engage him. If he is on the Spectrum we'll have a head start. If he isn't .... These activities and approaches will simply help his development and give 'quality' to our playtime. Good book.
