Divine Sayings: The Mishkat Al-Anwar Of Ibn 'Arabi

Inspiring insight into the spiritual depth of Islam is presented in this English translation of Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi's Mishkat al-Anwar, one of the most influential early collections of hadith qudsi, the sayings of God as transmitted by Muhammad. The meaning of hadith, hadith qudsi, and the importance of the terms in the text are explained in a comprehensive 90-page introduction. A bibliography, indexes on the individual hadith, the names of the important transmitters, and two appendices on the manuscript sources and chains of transmission provide unfamiliar readers with resources to fully appreciate the work. An Arabic version of the Mishkat al-Anwar, culled from the oldest surviving manuscripts and presented in a handsome calligraphic style, is also included.

This book is quite simply a remarkable and amazing book. If you don't know anything about Islam, start with this book. If you thought you knew a thing or two about Islam, read this book and you will discover a whole lot that you had no clue about. If you know a lot about Islam, either as a muslim or a non-muslim, and haven't read this book, read it and you will discover dimensions that you never knew existed. The translation is superb, and its publication has been done in a most scholarly fashion which meets the highest standards. For those who are familiar with classical Arabic, you can find the entire Arabic version printed beautifully to your delight. Do yourself a very big favor and start reading this book as soon as possible. My most sincere thanks to the translators of this book.

Want a taste of real Islam? This is it. I've read other books of hadith (sayings) but this one, which covers what are called "Holy hadith", sayings of God reported from his various prophets and other mystics, is beautiful. The sayings are simple and direct prescriptions for a sweet spiritual life. I bought the paperback English version and then discovered that the hardback version also includes the Arabic as well as the English. So I bought that too! The translations are great. The lettering is very readable. I'm glad I found this. Peace & Blessings to you.

Im very satisfied with this purchase however Id much rather like to find one that is expounded on by orthodox scholars such as al-Ghazali, Imam Malik, Imam Hanafi, or ibn Arabi himself. These are just raw ahadith but theyre still good to read and contemplate on during the day.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading the Sacred Sayings of God. I just wish there was more to read as you can't get enough of your Creator's Wisdom, Mercy and Blessings.

Ibn Arabi is very important scholar whose ideas are sometimes challenging. I liked this text, but I wish it included the Arabic text. Otherwise i would recommend.

hadiths is not an easy subject for most people as many of them are fabricated and unreliable. you just have to trust and depend on your good intentions.

That was such a beautiful book what is better than reading the words of Allah the most merciful beautiful subhanallah.

We are fortunate to have such a readable translation. If you like this book also see Lex Hixon's 101 Diamonds
