There are two main sources for an under-standing of Islam: the Qur'an (which Mus-lims believe to be God's word revealed), and the collections of the recorded and authenticated words, actions and sanctions of the Prophet Muhammad which make up the sunna and which are normally referred to as Hadith. The compiler of this short book of Hadith was the Imam An-Nawawi. Born in 1233 AD in the Syrian village of Nawa, he enjoyed a high reputation as a jurist and scholar of Hadith. This selection is generally regarded as the most popular anthology and the best introduction to the study of Muhammad's sayings, which, together with the Holy Qur'an, contain the essential teachings of Islam. The Arabic original is printed alongside the English translation. Each Hadith is presented with its sanad, or chain of transmitters or authorities. It is said that Paradise is the reward for the Muslim who can recite forty Hadith. (See the Hadith related by the women Companions of the Prophet Muhammad, at left.)Teachers/Librarians: good resource for 7th-adult, social studies/humanities

Excellent book to say the least. These are the hadith (traditions and sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) selected by Imam Al-Nawawi and have been introduced beautiful on good quality paper. Must read at least one hadith before bedtime!

This great book finally available in Kindle. It is great to have reference of words of wisdom where ever you go

If you want to understand the traditions in Islam or a better understand of Hadith and Sunnah, this is a great starting point.

Thanks

Very handy for each household to have. Though keep in mind this is just a translation and not a commentary. If you're attending classes or watching it online, this is a good small reference to have handy with just the Arabic and English hadith listed.

Very good. Just not as much as I would like. Want more. This is an excellent appetizer.
