This book is NOT one to study from for the PE. Just don't subject yourself to that. Basically, what it does is go through the CERM section by section and gives you problems (and solutions) for each one. The problem is that it doesn't factor in the idea that the CERM includes a TON of stuff that isn't on the Civil PE, no matter what depth section you're taking. For instance, the Transportation section of this book begins with kinetics problems and the physics of solid bodies.... it's absolutely nothing you need. It's a massive book, and it's complete overkill to study from. If you're working with limited funds, I would recommend instead investing in the Lindeburg practice test, and any other practice tests you can get your hands on, as even if they may vary in difficulty from the actual test, it's still a much better summary of what is on the test.That said, since I had it, I brought it to the test, and I WAS able to look up how to do one or two problems on the test thanks to it. So bring it if you have it; just don't try to use it as a study tool.
Doing problems is the best way to study for the PE exam. The problems in this book were somewhat helpful. It covers all of the afternoon disciplines. The publisher may want to consider splitting the book into separate afternoon sessions and adding a section for the morning session.
great for studying for the PE. Not enough example problems for the Geotechnical Afternoon Session.
Not enough explanation/details .... Sometimes The book doesnt state what equation is used from the reference manual.
