I'm giving it 3 stars because it contains good information about study habits and certain sections of the exam. Unfortunately, the recent change in the Arizona Bar format makes the book a little outdated. As of July 2011, Arizona has adopted the MEE/MPT/MBE format with 6 essay questions plus 2 MPTs on the first day and the 200 question MBE on the second day. A couple of chapters are spent talking about the older format of 12 essays and using your time wisely - which is good advice even with the lightened essay load. Also, there is too much information about the state-specific material, which again in light of the changes renders the book outdated. It's definitely worth a look, but in my opinion is no longer a solid guide to the AZ Bar.
So how I managed to get through three years of law school without ever learning how to do analysis is beyond me. I just took the AZ bar this week, and should I pass it will because of chapter four in this book. Throughout law school I would always get my exams back with comments saying I need more analysis, but no one ever explained to me what that means. On pages 35 & 36 of this book Noreuil provides a sample fact pattern followed by a "partial-model answer". When I read the model answer I almost hit the roof because that is exactly how I would have answered it. Then you turn the page to discover all the reasons why that answer is wrong and are given a SIMPLE breakdown of how to do analysis. It is infuriatingly simple! If someone could have just explained this to me three years ago my law school experience might not have been so miserable.I read this book three weeks before the bar exam and it really motivated me to keep going and to do more practice essays even though I had already turned in all the ones to be graded. I think there is definetly something for everyone in this book. I also liked chapter six and found the MBE tips to be helpful as well. The book is short and sweet so you'll have time to read it if you've already started bar study, but try and get it before hand. Good luck!
This book contains an index of the frequently tested items and when they were tested. As past exams are not easily obtain in AZ, I was super excited. This book's index did just what I did to prepare for the GA bar-except I didn't spend a week reviewing past exams!
I read this book when I began studying for the bar. It has practical advice - especially on how to maximize your points on essay questions.
First portion of book is great. Second portion references AZ's old bar exam. Some of the content is still helpful though.
