REA guides should only be used as a supplement to other sources. You need a copy of the ETS study guide for the 0014/5014; I checked a copy of one that was circa 2006 out of the library and it had all the concepts I needed to know. That is the most important reference you need before any others. The next reference tool you need is the Internet to research the topics. After that, you need practice tests. These REA guides are ONLY good for practice testing.I checked two REA Praxis guides out of the library that were intended for 0014(paper)/5014(computer). The old book is PRAXIS II Elementary Ed Content Knowledge 0014 w/CD (REA) (PRAXIS Teacher Certification Test Prep) and the new book is this one Praxis II Elementary Education: Content Knowledge (0014/5014) 2nd Ed. (PRAXIS Teacher Certification Test Prep). The books are good for one thing only and that is additional exposure to practice questions. This is good for you because both the old and new edition have the same exact tests so buy the cheaper book or find a copy in your local library.The background material that an individual is supposed to read before taking the practice exams is sorely lacking. It is like one person wrote the topic information and another wrote the exam questions. The older edition has less poorly written - in terms of page number - information than the new book.
