I've been reading this book for the last 3 weeks and its very easy to follow, very well structured. I'm a graduate student in accounting and I couldn't' live without it.
I don't think I will be carrying this book around in my vest pocket anytime soon as it's taller than 8 inches and is quite hefty. With that said, I didn't purchase this book for its size. This is the third book I've purchased from Wiley and I have been satisfied with each one. The content is well organized and presented in a user friendly manner. Not only is the material presented well but it is usually followed by realistic examples.
I thought this would be a nice little summary of the GAAP rules in one place. It's not.It shows limited examples of how to record very simplistic transactions; real-life is never that simple.The table of contents leaves you wading through pages to see if the book even covers what you're looking for.-Perhaps it's my legal background, but it would be a better book if they just summarized GAAP.
I refer to this often. As an accountant, its hard to remember all the rules off the top of your head, especially since i'm in the tax world and don't use GAAP as often as tax rules.
I've been using this book for a few months and it's a very handy guide for accountants. It's easy to follow and I found it to be very helpful.
