Kimberley Strassel is not your ordinary author and I found this book, The Intimidation Game, to be anything but ordinary. I'm sure she understands the risks she’s taking by delivering this message and to me, that makes her a modern day hero because she believes in her cause: protecting freedom of speech. I really admire her courage as an author to educate those who have ears to hear, and to face the potential dangers of being silenced and intimidated herself. This book is full of other modern day heroes like Frank Vandersloot, a man who was targeted because he exercised his freedom to support the political candidate of his choice.Kimberley is warning us all, will we hear and take action or will we fall prey to the intimidation game?
Freedom of speech has made America unique among most nations of the world. Whenever it is threatened, as it has been during the recent past, the oppressors need to be identified and called out, which is what this book does brilliantly. Kimberly Strassel is a terrific writer with interesting stories that connect the dots to explain why suddenly so many Americans feel intimidated and reluctant to engage in the political process -- because doing so could put them on a target list.
It is Not difficult to understand why liberals would not appreciate this book! It places a search light on the very thing they try so hard to hide! Sadly TRUTH is an anathema to "progressives" who must mask what they are doing in media and politics! Anyone who actually understands the death of objective thought caused by political correctness looks with sadness and anger at the moral and fiscal abyss before us today! Many in academia and even some in theology have actively compromised in an effort to forget many of our Founding Fathers who sacrificed their Lives, their Fortunes and their Sacred Honor to give us what is being denigrated and thrown away before our very eyes today!
Not since Woodward and Bernstein's "All the President's Men" has there been a journalist willing to do the deep digging to uncover the abuse of power by an out of control American government. If you are an activist you must read this book to discover the playbook of the progressive ruling elite. If you are an interested citizen/voter you should read this book so you know the extent to which a very coordinated progressive cabal is willing to go to silence Americans.Kimberley Strassel interviewed American citizens who were actually harmed by the overreach of government agencies and an Administration that has been calling the shots for almost 8 years. The thread of how conservative Americans were singled out for IRS audits and raids on their homes and police action is stunning. The fact that few other media outlets covered these stories is even more stunning. Thank goodness this travesty bothered Ms. Strassel enough for her to undertake this very unpopular stand by investigating this criminal behavior by government employees and their political Svengalis.People need to understand what happened, who is involved and how the progressives continue to harass innocent Americans for no other reason but that they have a differing set of values and principles. This book gave me a clearer view of how "campaign spending reform" is used in American politics. There is much to learn about why the Supreme Court ruled as they did in Citizens United and what the reaction was by opponents of that ruling. This book has given me much-needed perspective.
A frightening review of elements in our country who detest contrary opinions, and will go to great ends to stifle all debate. The book in great detail outlines how the basic principles of Alinsky are used by those to eliminate opposition. First,identify the enemy ( known as those with whom they disagree), isolate and humiliate the enemy, usually by calling them racist, sexist, homophobic or whatever the cause du jure is,and finally silencing them permanently with overwhelming attacks. They learned their trade craft well form the Nazi Brown Shirts in the 1930s, who used the same tactics to silence opposition. Tragically, we know the end game of the Nazis. Lets hop we do better.
A riveting portrayal of the liberal response to the Citizens United Supreme Court ruling and the utter obsession of the left to use every available avenue to limit its impact, as well as its ability to squelch dissent and evade prosecution. The irony of the NAACP vs Alabama (limiting disclosure due to damaging repercussion) and current state of the left (including public shaming and blackmail to force donor disclosure on the right) is but one of the themes throughout the book that should give readers thought about the dangers of our current political discourse.
