This book is really fantastic! Although I have been riding since 1983, I have never done any work on my bike other than change the oil. After my clutch cable recently failed (due to burning the housing on the exhaust pipe due to careless placement after a thorough cleaning), I decided to replace the cable myself rather than pay the shop to do it. Well, it took a lot of hours, and I needed to buy a couple of new tools (torque wrench, pin spanner), but I am proud to say that I got the job done properly thanks to the book. The photos and step by step descriptions are completely thorough, and there are plenty of warnings and cautions given so that you can avoid making dumb mistakes. My main recommendations would be: Read chapters one and two FIRST, and THEN go to the section you need, based on whatever you are working on. There is some important info in chapter two that I read after completing my job, which caused me to have to go back and take something apart again and put it back together the RIGHT way. Now that I have this manual, I am free to decide for any given repair whether it's something I will be able to do myself or not. Basically it will simply boil down to: Do I have all the necessary tools? No longer will a lack of knowledge stop me from working on the bike. My biggest regret is not buying this book in 2005 when I bought the bike.

Great manual for the Shade Tree Mechanic. I always buy a Clymer manual for every vehicle I own. This has saved me a ton of money as opposed to going to a shop. Diagnose problems, tear down and rebuild, specific info on every system on the bike. I save d $500.00 the first day I got it by diagnosing an air shock problem. Now that I have one, my buddies call wanting to know how to do a fix or trouble shoot a problem. I always take it on long road trips, cause you just never know.

clymer writes an easy to follow tech book. had bought an EVO project bike and being use to working on shovelheads I used this for a reference guide for this new project. Like I said a good reference to guide you along.

Have an 84 FLTC: full of incorrect information, wrong diagrams, missing info all together. Really disappointed with this edition. grant it, 84 was a transition year so it's difficult with all the model variations throughout the year but - if you can't get it right then don't advertise/sell the product as such. I also have a Clymer for a 96 Sporty and for the most part it's dead-on or at the very least 95% useful. HOWEVER, this edition with regards to a 1984 FLTC (Late 84 Evo) is completely useless aside from the fire starter that it will more than likely end up being, i.e. waste of paper.

A 923 page detailed maintenance manual for the 1984 - 1998 HD FLH/FLT/FXR; including chapters on General Information, Troubleshooting, Maintenance and Tune-up, Engine, Clutch & Primary Drive, 4 & 5 speed Trans, Fuel & Exhaust Sys, Electrical (including colored wiring diagrams), Wheels & Tires, Front & Rear Suspension & Steering, Brakes, Cruise Control, and Body. So far this is an excellent manual.

The Clymer Harley FLH/FLT/FXR Evolutuion manual is larger then I expected. I found the manual very through and it was over 2" thick chocked full of information on the Harley FLH, which I own.If you need to work, tunup or perform repairs on your Harley-Davidson Motorcycle, this manual will give you technical information you need to coplete the task. The purchase price was far below what I found shopping around the internet and internet auctions.

This manual was a life saver. I had to rewire my FXR and the factory manual did not have a good wiring schematic. I LOVED the schematic that your manual had. I was able to get my Harley back on the road. Thank You

The references do not include HD part numbers, which in itself is not bad, however... The part descriptions don't necessarily reflect the same part names assigned by Harley Davidson, making ordering replacement parts extremely difficult. I had to return 3 of 7 parts ordered during a cam replacement, and ended up taking my book down to HD when I returned the items to compare the Clymer exploded view to that of HD, which is where we noticed the discrepancies. The illustrations are good, making the actual repairs fairly simple, but it is embarassing to have to return almost half the parts you ordered because they are not identified by the name assigned by the manufacturer.
