As an APUSH teacher I would NOT recommend this book. Even with the claim that it is to focus study for the exam the book is missing major points from the AP framework (which is what students are tested over) and even had a few incorrect descriptions of topics. The test taking tips section of the book has no actual tips for the AP test, the tips are general. Don't waste your money on this AP study guide.
Despite another reviewer's dislike of the author's politics, the substance of this AP US History review book is excellent. I've taught AP USH History for over 20 years, and highly recommend this book to my students.
Just took my AP U.S. History Exam yesterday and I must say this book helped me out so much! Not only does it clearly explain the key events of american history but it also states why they're important as well. It also connects similarities and differences between events. I would highly recommend this review book; I walked into the testing room confident from the knowledge I learned from it!
Even though I got a 2 on the AP exam, this is honestly a great review book. I probably would've gotten a 3 or higher if I really took my time to read, but I have taken 4 exams and passed 3 of them thanks to the Crash Course books. It's easy to read and provides several tips on what's really on the test. I would recommend reading this a few weeks before if you have other tests to study for.
Great resource. Teacher recommended and I'm glad I got if for my daughter. She hasn't take the AP exam yet, and I'm thinking it will be most useful for that rather than getting through the course material.
My son said it mets his needs. Gave a quick overview of each chapter which was helpful. Also, the key terms good to know.It is a small book(dimensions) compared to other AP review books. Don't know his score yet.
I just recently took the 2015 APUSH exam and let me tell you! This book helped me a lot!! I actually didn't order this but borrowed it from a friend during studying. I just had to write a review to tell the upcoming kiddos to get this one!!! It is very straightforward and very organized. The content is short, but it pretty much gives you exactly what you need to know and you can easily understand it. I've tried other books and I regret not buying this one (because in my experience so far, it has been the best).My friend only studied for the exam 2 days before he had to take it, and he felt WAY more prepared than me D:
One of the reasons I purchased this study book was because of the FREE online full practice test. I have gone online, I have entered in the access code, the test IS NOT FREE. I need to pay an additional 5 dollars for the practice exam and 15 if I want flashcards. The book itself I would not say is that bad however I cannot even test how well it is helping me study because the practice exam isn't free.
