My child just did a practice exam in this book and could not complete a couple of questions because of typographical errors. For example, what should have been printed as exponents were not superscripted, thus showing up as a multiplication in the equation. The solution was written correctly in the answer section.
As mentioned in some of the other reviews for this book, there are multiple errors, particularly in the Math section. Very disappointed as a consumer. They need to pull this edition off the shelves and publish a corrected version. We've moved on to another book. Hopefully, the experience would be much better...
This is a great book for the SHSAT test. My daughter is stadying by herself from this book. If you read every word in this book and buy few more from or barnes and nobel you do not need KAPLAN prep and you can save yourself $1,500. Make sure you start prep earlier and don't wait 2-3 months before the big test.
explains very well, and covers a lot of topics but if you buy this know that this shouldn't be the only other test prep book you buythis should be used more as a guide instead of something you rely solely onif planning on buying this book, get a kaplan or barons book too
My daughter used this book to practice for the SHSAT test and working her way through the problems was on a difficulty scale, pretty medium. I think that if you can get through these set of questions, you are more than well prepared for taking the sections of the exam. I also found a few mistakes in some questions, so maybe a revision would be good? Overall, this book was not too difficult or too easy, but after working her way through, my daughter realized that it wasn't as bad as she thought.
There are mistakes in this book. Download SHSAT pdf files from the web and get Kaplan SHSAT book, skip this one.
We got McGraw-Hill's New York City SHSAT and download to the iPad. The fact you can now download it to your iPad is really convenience. It really helped my daughter prepared for the test. I would recommend this book to help your child prepare for test.
This one was very good. I found some other books are very hard however not logically explained and not the same level as the shsat. I believe this one was better and more logically. Highly recommended.
