There are 87 pages of study material and some of those are half pages or blank white pages. The chart on page 7 is so pixelated you can't really read the smallest font on it. There are 100 questions. Some have typos. Many are very simple and probably too simple for what will actually be on the exam. There are better study materials out there. I would only get this on as a supplement if you decide to purchase it at all.
This is a perfect, compact, study guide for anyone who is preparing to take their NCE Exam. At 118 pages, it is not too cumbersome or intimidating to start studying. This book covers all of the major areas of the exam and includes plenty of practice questions to make you feel more comfortable with the actual test. I ordered the NCE Study Guide: National Counselor Exam Prep Review Book with Practice Test Questions for the NCE Exam as sort of a review for myself. I have a BA in Psychology, and I have been contemplating applying for graduate school. I am not convinced that this is the right decision for me, and if I would still want to be a counselor or go into another field of psychology. I have always been interested in Social Psychology and Industrial and Organizational Psychology as well as counseling.I was very impressed with the information provided in the NCE Study Guide. It reviews all the different types of theories, counseling, psychological testing, disorders, etc. It also included study tips and strategies. I enjoyed reviewing the case study. It is so helpful to see them go through an actual life like case to see how counseling really works. It is a lot more documentation than I remember it being in school. Of course we just went over case studies back then as well.I recommend this study guide for anyone preparing to take the National Counselor Exam, or for people like me who are interested in psychology and thinking of going back to school. It is important to know all the options out there and remember all of the information required in counseling. This book is going to cover everything that you need to know before you sit down for your exam. The best part about the book is all of the practice questions and tests. They go over each answer once you are done so that you are learning from any mistakes you have made as it is thoroughly explained and this also helps to make sure that you are actively learning the information. I definitely recommend this for anyone looking to bump up their score and feel more confident in the information that they need to know before the test comes along. A great resource!
