I got this book for my son as he is going to have to take this test within the year or so before he goes into college. This book covers a wide variety of subjects covered in the test. The questions and answers are not exactly what is on the test but it is similar. By having a prep book in advance is especially helpful when particularly this book breaks everything down and helps my test taker review what is going to be on the test. Reviewing this information in advance helps prep them mentally for the test and helps with critical thinking and for obtain what he is learning currently in school and revert back to this prep book to know what type of information to retain. I wish they had a book like this when I was in school it would have helped me with this test. This prep book covers in depth English, writing, grammar, science, and all types of math including algebra, and reading. If my son gets stuck or does not understand something this book has an answer key that breaks it down for him to understand. This book has been very valuable in helping out with math. That's been a problematic subject for me and I think I've got a much better grasp in this area thanks to this study guide. It gives some general test taking advice and then there are individual subject areas broken down. There are also a bunch of practice questions and answer keys with explanations.

This book is so full of misinformation about the ACT that it verges on being a straight-up scam. I urge you to read the many 5-star reviews and judge for yourself whether they are legitimate. Then, start with the Official Guide to the ACT 2016-2017 The Official ACT Prep Guide, 2016 - 2017 and work your way out from there (you can also read my detailed review of the book on ).I'm sure that part of why this book is popular is that it's published by the "ACT Test Prep Team," which, if you didn't know any better, you might be fooled into thinking is officially sanctioned by the ACT, and/or contains real ACT practice exams.Well, it's not, and it doesn't. should stop allowing authors to publish under deceptive names that imply authenticity when there is none.
My son is in his junior year. While he got an good grade on his ACT he plans on taking it. This is perfect to help him study. He now can focus on the queue areas he wants to approve on. I feel this goes thru a variety of topics and is a good overall study guide. This is obviously not meant to show you exactly what is on the test. Most high schoolers have two tests they want to do good on. Their drivers test and the ACT. This is the best book I have seen to prepare you for the ACT. Having taken standardized tests most of my life, I can see the real value in this book. The book is divided up into three sections. The first section goes through different strategies to do better and not stress over the test. These strategies have worked for me while I previously took an ACT practice test. Although every person has their own strategies, this book describes them in a well written way that makes it easy to understand. The second part of the book goes through each part of the act : Reading, Science, Math, English, and even Writing. It goes through each section and gives you notes and gives you a small crash corse on each lesson. I have gone through the each group and the information it gives you is compact, easy to understand, and very beneficial. The third section is a practice test. It includes the answers in the back. But the most beneficial thing is that it has an explanation for every answer. That way you know how to correct your mistakes when you actually take it. The book is very beneficial and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if you are really wanting a higher score. I Am confident that if you willingly read through this book that it will improve your score and make you feel better about the test. Even if you aren't going to take the test the second section of the book, when it runs though each section, has great material to just freshen up on new material.
