The puzzles in this book slowly get more and more challenging so someone new to logic puzzles doesn't feel immediately frustrated. My 10yo son LOVES them. I usually assign one for his week day "homework" and one for his weekend work. He'll often finish those and ask for more to do. The answer guide in the back takes you step by step through the logic so even if you can't get the answers, it will help you see how they were found, not just the answers with no explanation.
My 8 year old actually asks to do these, and we find them addictive. I purchased it to give him (and my 6th grader who has one for her grade level too) a break from their normal math curriculum. My son doesn't ask to do these instead of his other math work, but actually asks to do them even if he's already completed his math work!We did the first one together, and the next couple he needed a little help with, but then he had the hang of it and has been able to do them on his own without help. I have him photocopy the page he is going to work on, that way I know he isn't being tempted to look at the answer page and cheat. I really don't think I need to worry about it as much with him as his sister though, because the answer page isn't really that easy to find.I certainly don't regret this purchase. We have a lot of extra workbooks laying around that sounded like a good idea at the time, but this isn't one of them. This one gets used.
I love this book! I'm going to school for Math Education grades 4-8 and I found this book fantastic. Some of the problems are pretty tough but I feel like we need problems like this in our classrooms right now. I've noticed many students are lacking in the logics department and books like this can help teachers fit these type of problems into their curriculums. I will definitely be using some of the problems for my students not only when I do my student teaching next semester, but when I graduate and have a classroom of my own. For the record, I will also be getting the grades 6-8 version of this book and can't wait to use these bafflers in the classroom.
My student (3/4 gifted) love these!! They take lots of thought and prompt discussion and interaction between group members to solve.
I don't have this book...yet. Am ordering it today. But this lady used to teach a mini class in my classroom every now and again w/ my students. If the book is as creative, challenging, and interesting as this lady & her teaching, then you're gonna LOVE it! I can't wait to get it.
Not so easy puzzles as expected. Still like it but difficult for my daughter. Fast shipping

My son is in kindergarten and enjoys critical thinking puzzles and logic problems. We work on these together for fun. He enjoys it and so do I.
