Why just read about where people traveled? Make your own map of it! This is such a wonderful product, I wish there was one for World History so my children could visually follow Alexander the Great or Marco Polo on his journeys at younger ages. This is not a difficult craft book, it is quite easy and well worth it. My 7 year old daughter loves it.

The day after I received this book I used one of the ready made activities in my fifth grade classroom. The kids loved it! I like the fact that it incorporates visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetics into teaching history. Also a great value - this book was twice the price at a local store.

Great for kids and older Grandma's and Grandpa's who just want to review history, the part they didn't live, quickly before the grandkids start asking questions they don't have the answers to. Very informative.

I have used this book with my 5th grade classroom for three years now. I am amazed at how much my students learn and love these maps. We just finished an integrated Social Studies/Language Arts Unit on Immigration. The 3-D map the students made of the US and focusing on Ellis and Angel Island added much to the study. The maps also give those students that are especially creative a chance to shine as well as give the students that are not a chance to create something lovely that might be a little out of the box for them. OH I just WISH THERE WERE MORE OF THESE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm using this with 4th through 6th graders. My only regret is that there are not more books like it or more maps in it.

We homeschool. We are currently using My Father's World Adventures in US History. This book works nicely along side the curriculum. My daughter enjoys coloring it (we do it together because its a lot for her to do by herself as she is only 6) and moving the pieces around as she tells me the history story that goes along with it. The book provides a narrative that goes along with all the 3-d pieces as well as a "teaching with the map" section that has questions (and answers) to go along with narrative. It is a nice add on. If using in the classroom make sure your students are independent cutters as there can be many pieces for each map. We always copied on cardstock to make the maps more durable.I have attached a copy of the table of contents so you can see which sections in history are included. It is designed to be copied. So we can use this book as we progress to deeper levels of history.

I LOVE these maps! And so do my students. I would like to see more resources like this from the people who made this resource - particularly on world history maps (6th Grade) and others.

It surprises me that people love these maps so much. What the book really needs is an additional reproducible page with information about each topic for the students. Without such a page, all these maps are is a book that costs money and requires extra work from the teacher to go find a worksheet with the information needed on it. When I bought the book, I thought there would be an instruction page with such information for students. The topics are heavy on 1700-1850 period. Very few are for beyond 1850. I was hoping for at least some helpful maps about the Civil War or Industrial Revolution. Or One about the Gold Rush... I wouldn't recommend spending the money on this book. But, the worst part about this book is that you can't easily tear the pages out for copying the maps. You have to fold back the book which makes copying the maps difficult.
