An excellent book that reframes the tutoring enterprise include research and broadens the tutoring concept to include the "big picture" of a student's experience.- the transition from student to scholar and the need to develop or sharpen study skills, including metacognition. Only one thing sorely lacking - examples of tutor curricula, which are mentioned but not explained in detail - a major omission.
I bought this book to use as a reference for my dissertation. It is FABULOUS! I would recommend this to anyone interested in this topic.
