I am a FNP working at office setting. I ordered this new edition to replace my older labcoat 2013 edition. The lab coat edition with 500s pages it feels heavy when I put it in the lab coat pocket, so I wanted to try this smaller version this time. Now I have been using this for couple weeks, and I miss the lab coat edition since it brings much more detailed dosage information for each medications such as dosages for unlabeled use. The lab coat edition also provides brief information for each category of medications such as contraindications and major interactions. If you have been practicing long enough that you are familiar with all medications that you usually Rx then get this one, but I strongly recommend to get lab coat edition if you are still new to the field.
Great product. An absolute must for medical students and physicians alike. Very compact size yet still readable. Fits nicely in my coat pocket. It is organized as such:Chapters - drugs broken down by speciality/type (for instance, antibiotics first, then specialities, such as neurology, endocrine, etc)---Drugs ---Generic nameBrand nameIndicationsDosageExcretion (kidney/liver)Pregnancy safety levelLacatation saftey (whether or not it is secreted in breastmilk)CostMust have, 5/5 stars, highly recommended
Bought this as a requirement in PA school.... I also purchased the lab coat version. I kept the lab coat version and returned this one. As a student I felt more comfortable with the other version because it contains more details. Still a great book.
Great book. I have carried this in my pocket every day, every since completing residency 17 years ago. This edition appears to be of the same high quality as the prior editions, with further advances in the layout. I see some reviewers noted blank pages. My copy does have some additional (intentional) blank pages in the back of the book which as blank aside from saying "Notes" at the top as this is for you to jot notes in (which I do), and there is some blank space left at the end of each section now so that the next topic can start at the very top of the next page. I do not appear to have any pages that are accidentally blank or missing. Specifically my page 26 is not blank, unlike a prior reviewer who noted that he/she had that problem. I just received my copy yesterday, so maybe they recently corrected that problem. I see no problems with my copy. I use this every day. I appreciate the inclusion of pediatric specific dosages for most of the medications that we would use with children. I find it helpful to shrink some additional information, reducing it on a copy machine, and tape it inside either on the blank back notes pages or sometimes closer to the subject it is related to and just taped over some pages that I know I won't be using. I use this book more than any other book I have. For those who want to know such things, the cover is relatively sturdy but is a paper cover and can wear down over the coarse of an entire year of going in and out of my pocket. The binding is good and holds up well. This is a great book. It is such a valuable resource.
Sometimes it is inappropriate to pull out your smart phone to look up a drug while rounding. This book solves that problem. Each drug is organized by brand and general name. They include dosing schedules, pregnancy category, and estimated cost (by number of "$" signs). This is by far one of the essential books that should be in every medical student and residents white coat.
AAA+ seller and Great book, used it countless times already. This was a replacement for an earlier order of same book that was cheaper but annoyingly defective. It was worth reordering and paying more to get one that's totally perfect.
my go to drug dosage reference - I will often race the EM residents with their electronic reference and beat them every time.
This book is great. A doctor I was doing clinicals recommended it as he used it everyday. It fits in your lab coat pocket easily, is lightweight and covers most drugs, dosing, and their conditions. The only downfall, which is due to the small size is the font is small.
