My wife and I are 6 months into our third child, and we have read several baby books previously. This one has more useful information, and even stuff that no one had told us or was in any of the half dozen books we previously read. It lays out problems and solutions very clearly and makes appropriate jokes, without insulting anyone's intelligence.Let me repeat - I've read a half dozen baby books, and this one STILL had new and useful information, as well as covering all the information that was in the other books.Get this if you have a child, are currently pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant.

I got this for my husband because we are starting to think about having kids in the future. He thinks it is hilarious. I know people were disappointed that it didn't contain more real information or that it was written as to much of a joke but it is so well done. My husband fixes everything by using an owner's manual. He is excited to be a parent and great with kids but nervous. I have been babysitting for almost 20 years. He feels like he doesn't know enough to have a new born. This book has gone a long way in breaking the ice. He says he has his manual and he is all set.

This book is both serious and funny. I purchased it for myself because as a new dad and engineer I prefer things explained in a straight forward manner. I enjoyed the humor throughout the book as it took the edge off the fact that I am now going to have a little person that depends solely on my care. It is not the most comprehensive baby care book but it was readable and not overly sensitive. I also have seen my wife grabbing this book as it is a great quick reference guide and it makes her giggle. In summation if you want a 101 level baby care book that you will want to read I would strongly recommend this book, assuming you have a sense of humor about the whole baby experience.

This book is informative for basic baby stuff. I've read it a few times. It is pretty neat how it works like a user manual. I only gave it four stars because I wish it had more material. I also like that the book is robust and has a section so you can record all your baby's info.

I'm in the rare position of owning this on both the Kindle and as the physical book. So I'll focus on that, but let me just say that the content of this book (in any format) is excellent. The humour combined with knowledge helps keep you engaged and will make you laugh out loud in certain parts. Highly recommended, in particular if you have a slightly dark sense of humour. That said: The Kindle edition of this book is pretty poor. Part of this book's charm is the diagrams, often split over two pages, these are ruined in the Kindle version, often two halves aren't next to one another or worse the image is sideways on making it hard to read and ruining the flow of the book. The Kindle version just feels slapped together, like someone scanned the book in really quickly, didn't really look at the result and then they put it immediately for sale. The format of the physical item in this case IS part of its charm. The cut off corners, the feel of the paper, all of it has been selected to make it feel like a really old "manual." That charm is subtle but completely lost in the Kindle version. The text itself is readable in both formats, but the charm is not.I give this book a 4/5 on paper form, a 3/5 in Kindle form.I'd only take off one star in the paper form because it felt like the humour was better at the start of the book and as you got further in they stopped trying to keep it light (and it gets a little dry in places). But still better than any other baby book I know of.

We receive this book as a gift when we had our first child and thought it was really awesome. Great for IT geeks...got this as a present for a friend and he loved it too!

We got this as a gift and I have bought 3 copies for others. A great read for new dads who may find other baby books to dull or to girlie.

I gave my husband the baby owner's manual as part of a Christmas gift as I was 5 months pregnant at the time. This is our first child together. He’s a 33 year old man boy who has never even changed a diaper! It was supposed to be a funny gag gift but I read some of the pages and they were so funny AND informative things I couldn’t put it down. Everyone at our family Christmas celebration thought this was a fantastic gift and wanted a copy for their husband, son, etc.! My husband laughed but he read this entire book cover to cover in about a week. He's a really fast reader but he said that it was very funny and he learned a lot! The book had great diagrams of babies, their cribs, how to change a diaper, what to do in emergency situations, etc. But they always use terms that men would understand. The pages are colorful and thick. The cover was nice and sturdy and very colorful. Definitely fit for a man.Now that the baby is about 4 months old, he’s gone back to read over a few of the pages again for reference. For example, what to do after a baby has vaccinations. The baby ran a fever and I wasn’t home and he wasn’t quite sure what to do. He popped that book open and read over a few things and tried them and was able to make the baby feel better quickly. It has totally come in handy!
