Manners Time (Toddler Tools)

Manners start with a smile—then you add the words. There are polite words to use when you greet someone, ask for something, or (oops!) make a mistake. There’s even a nice way to say no. This book gives toddlers a head start on manners, setting the stage for social skills that will last a lifetime. Includes tips for parents and caregivers.

All the books in this series are wonderful "teachers" for children. It is simply told yet the lesson is direct. I love the fact that the illustration show the differences between people (multi cultural, physical disabilities, young and old). My 3 year old grandson loves these books.

My Daughter is 17 months and started saying excuse me, please and thank you after reading this book many time, the Pictures are awesome. I Love it! It just renforces what you are already teaching your child.

This book is phenomenal. Simple and to the point. We started reading it to our son when he was about 18 months (he's now almost 3) and he developed a curiosity to the point where he'd actually pick it out at night in addition to the truck books he typically prefers. The amazing thing is how his manners have evolved. I've had so many (not an exaggeration) preschool teachers from various schools and programs tell me that he has wonderful manners. And today, I had a teacher tell me "In all my years of teaching preschool, I've never seen a child with such good manners." As a parent, this is like the holy grail of compliments. And I credit this book with explaining the concepts in a very straightforward format. It makes sense to them and it is so much easier to instill the importance of "please" and "thank you" when you have the pictures in the book to back it up as they are learning through multiple senses. The board book is the perfect length for toddlers. If you're on the fence about this book- get it. Knowing that you're sending a well mannered child off to preschool is worth its weight in gold.

My son is almost 2 1/2 and just doesn't have much interest in the book as he has for the author's other books like "Hands Are Not For Hitting" and Teeth Are Not For Bitting." I still think it's a good book to have for when he get's older. I will still continue to read it to him.

Love this little book! i bought it to read to my 2 year old niece. I've noticed in the past that some manners/etiquette books can be a little stuffy and uptight. This book teaches manners from a 'be kind" approach. After reading it a few times with my niece. I will place it with my other books in the waiting room of my pediatric dentistry office :)

I have several books in this series. My kid like when I read this one. Great images and important but age appropriate messages. We sort of "act out" the words. I like the diversity in the kids. I'm going to buy one for my daughters class.

This book is already helping my daughter be more polite. She is saying please and thank you. It's a cool concept because she's learning while I read her a story. It's a semi-board book she can handle it herself too. Try a couple. I got the ones on germs, manners and hands are not for hitting. All the same concept. She just turned two last week and she's on the road to being polite.

We purchased all of the Elizabeth Verdick books for use with our children. They are well written, great pictures, and extremely easy for a toddler to understand. So glad that we found these books and have them in our parent toolbox.
