My 2 year old daughter is speech delayed. This book has been an amazing tool for speech therapy. We have been able to increase communication and lessen frustrations due to speech delay. The book has easy to use instruction and photos to learn and teach ASL. My daughter loves this book! She loves looking at all of the photos of toddlers and babies featured in the book.

Has clear illustrations showing child doing each sign. We bought a different book first and it only included line illustrations of the hands. Not helpful! Our toddler saw this book and immediately tried to imitate the signs!

This is a great book of basic sign language for babies. I first saw it in my local library and purchased it for my daughter and granddaughter. it is well proven that babies understand language long before they can speak. Teaching Sign Language to infants and toddlers gives them tools to communicate before their bodies are mature enough to speak words. The book has signs are divided into categories - foods, animals etc. The illustrations are clear and easy for parents to master before teaching to the child. At 15 months old my granddaughter knows the signs for milk, more, all done, bug, please, dog, diaper, sleep, hat and many more. I wish I had known about this 30 years ago.

Very important information for all new parents. This book is laid out in an easy-to-understand format with all important words included. I would highly recommend this edition to any parents, new or experienced.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. My 20-month-old son is really into it; it has been his favorite book ever since we got it. In-between illustrations of babies demonstrating the sign, the book features photographs of babies actually doing the sign... which is genius, by the way, because what baby doesn't love looking at pictures of babies?!It's worth mentioning that our first introduction to baby sign language was not through this book, but through a three-day class one year ago, when he was 8 months old. All of the signs we've learned since then have been picked up from You Tube as needed, then taught to him. But it would have been SO much more helpful to have this resource, which concisely teaches all the common signs AND provides "quick tips" for using the sign. The signing instructions are very simple and easy to follow. We will flip through the book and learn one or two at a time, or look up a specific word that interests us. My son actually sits on my lap for this book - not something that happens too often nowadays! As mentioned previously, he loves seeing the babies (or little kids) do the signs. It's certainly an interactive book - as it should be, with the material at hand. The book also includes a wonderful introduction, which offers great advice and addresses any concerns that you may have in teaching your baby sign language. Please don't pass this one up, if you are interested in signing with your child!

This has been a great "dictionary" of sorts for learning signs to help toddler communicate. Although there are great photos - I don't think this is a book for reading to the toddler like other sign language books. Older siblings and I use as a reference book when we want to add new signs based on toddler's budding interests. Recommend!

This book was my first introduction to baby sign language and it is amazing! It is very well written with descriptions and pictures of how to sign things from "No" to "computer"! I found the tips at the front the most helpful. We started with 5 signs and added a new one each time my son caught on to one. He is now 18 months and signing has helped to make communication much less frustrating for him and me!

Great book. I picked up the older version from our library and loved it so much I decided to buy it. Great photos and explanations. Awesome quick reference guide or readable front to back. Totally worth it.
