I like their basic premise: practice the specific things you will be tested on. This isn't foolproof, of course, but I'm finding their math questions challenging (in a good way - I'm waaay out of practice) and their vocab sections seemed to have good tips too (I feel a bit more comfortable with vocab right off the bat). Lots of practice questions, good explanations and shortcuts. I like it.My big issue is that I'm finding mistakes (like WRONG answers to questions) and misprints all through the book. But what's even more frustrating is trying to Google "Princeton Review Cracking the GRE errata" and coming up with NOTHING. I get it, nobody's perfect, but at least admit you made mistakes and make it easy to find the corrections. There is NO excuse for Princeton Review not to have this info easily accessible when it could be on their website within moments of figuring out there's a problem.

It's a good book, but there are a couple of typos that are just REALLY annoying. I spent 30 minutes trying to figure out why I kept getting the wrong answer on a drill (Drill 8, page 179), and then I realized that the answer key has the question written differently than the question. Frustrating! Also, it's clear that the typo is in the question, since the answer choices don't make sense. The answer key has the question written correctly.

Very clear and concise. Preparing to take my exam so I will update on the score I get. I think this manual covered all the topics and useful strategies. One thing: you can't just read this and take the test. You actually need to practice the strategies. I'm generally a great test taker, but I never really had a set strategy which I'm sure is the difference between a decent score and a spectacular one.

This seems like a great study guide from the little I have used it so far. There are 2 practice tests in the book and a few more online. The practice test has all of the answers and gives very detailed reasons for the correct answer. This book also has tons of vocab in it. I would recommend this book to anyone studying for the GRE

The online software that comes with the book doesn't work on my new Mac or my old PC. I emailed Princeton IT per the instructions in the book and they never responded. Since I bought the book for the online access to the practice tests it is a waste of money.

As far as one-big-book GRE guides go, The Princeton Review's "Cracking the GRE: Premium" is not bad. It will get you familiar with the test. Sound good? It shouldn't. If you want a competitive score, you'll need more than familiarity.Positives:The book is user-friendly, easy to navigate and use. The techniques for verbal reasoning questions are fine, and unlike Kaplan's books, it covers all critical reasoning question types. Math techniques are fine, and the major math concepts are covered. Essay advice is ok, too.Negatives:The book tries to cast the GRE as a silly test that only measures "your ability to take the GRE". But if you buy that, you might not prepare as rigorously as you need to: the GRE will test your vocab, reading comprehension, math knowledge, and writing ability, but also your ability to adapt, perform under pressure, and to THINK. Many of these abilities will be things you've developed or can develop further independently of traditional prep. The book doesn't cover concepts very deeply or offer technique options. Lower or higher scorers may be disadvantaged by this. Don't expect this book to get you to a high level in math, for example - you'll need a much more comprehensive review and more practice if you're rusty. The back cover of the book claims, "If it's on the test, it's in this book." I would disagree - not all math concepts are covered, and those that are often don't go deep enough to prepare you for harder GRE questions which test those concepts. Finally, the practice question realism is not great. Questions (like those from most prep companies) generally do not capture the real GRE's nuances and complexities very well. For this reason especially, I urge you to practice with official GRE materials. The bottom line: this book is ok if you don't really need a competitive score. But if you do, you may want to do quite a bit more work than this book suggests you need to. The thing that bothers me is this book's marketing: it claims to be an "all-in-one solution", but it's just not. I like the Manhattan Prep GRE books when used as supplements to ETS's GRE books.

For some reason the product didn't arrive in the mail, and was excellent in replacing it.The book is useful, I recommend it because it contains useful tips and covers the subjects in a dynamic manner. I believe the way the tips are presented are very useful for people that are taking the GMAT for the first time.I paired this with the official books for good measure.

Best book for studying for the GMAT. I had the official book at first and this one is better is EVERY way. It teaches you strategies to have a higher chance to pick the correct answer even if you don't know how to attack or solve the problem. Buy this book!
