I bought this for my son to have some extra practices. But the answers for the practice tests are full of errors (providing wrong answer choices). The detailed answer explanation sections provide answers that are different from the summarized answers. That makes it very difficult for us to grade the practice tests to see where he is at. It takes a tremendous effort to examine the problems and come up with our own answers to be able to grade.
This book claims that is has "proven techniques for a higher score", such claim is completely preposterous in my opinion...The answer sheet is contradictory to the detailed explanations, which can only mean one thing: this book hadn't been checked for errors, and therefore it is full of them...I am shocked that such a renowned company would do the blatant mistake of not checking for errors correctly, I ended up being confused and with a much lower self-esteem due to the fact that I could tell if my answers are right or wrong....The verdict: If you want a 1000 page collection of errors, go ahead and waste your money.
Normally Princeton Review guides are our go to books for exam reviews. However, they clearly rushed this without enough editing. As a previous reviewer has already stated, the summary answer sheets have many mistakes on them. The answers in the detailed explanation portion is correct, so one has to compare the summary answer sheet to the detail portion first, then go back to grading the SAT practice test. Sloppy and inconvenient, but not impossible to work around.
In order to get used to the new SAT format and questions, I picked out this book from a shelf full of similar sample tests, thinking that it wouldn't matter which one I chose. Was I wrong!My first inkling of trouble came from the critical reading sections. The questions themselves seemed a bit off, and the reasoning given for the answers was convoluted. Had the SAT really gone so far downhill?The first math section showed me the real culprit. The answers were verifiably wrong on multiple questions, and one set of choices didn't even contain the right answer! At that point, the book lost my confidence completely. If the math answers were off so often, how could I trust the more-subjective sections? How could I even trust that the questions were representative?Based on reviews here, I'll be picking up the Barron's SAT 2400 book and the official practice tests from College Board. I've learned my lesson.
Pros: lots of practice tests, answer keys and explanations clear and conciseCons: there are MISTAKES in some of the answer keys. also apparently the problems don't resemble those from the real SAT very well.
I bought this book in hopes of getting better in SATs, but it hasnt helped at all!As already stated by many, this book is full of ERRORS. If you dont want to be the proofreader of the book during your SAT studies, do NOT buy this. I had to flip the pages furiously to actually find the correct answer. Even the answer explanations were wrong. I consulted a Princeton professor, who has been writing the SAT Reading exam exercises for years, and he said that many questions in the book dont actually follow the SAT Collegeboard way of thinking and therefore, has many "wrong" judgments. I highly recommend you to buy any other edition or any other SAT prep book.
After finishing the College Board test guide, this book seemed like a good source of additional practice. However, I quickly noticed a plethora of misprints that make certain questions unsolvable without having to guess what the correct information should be. If the publisher only revised this book before putting it into print, this would have been a great product.
without all the errors (which is more than book pages) the book would be good, however the kaplan is much better. I did both of them (actually I did almost all of books that exists for sat, including: official sat test prep, this one, kaplan 2400, kaplan 12 practice, princeton review) and kaplan's are best, but if you do many of them at some point you will have to take this scrap as there is no more practice tests on the market.
