There's a lot of good information to help a student prepare for the PSAT in this book. But similar to other prep books it's hard to replicate the difficulty level of the PSAT in any given year. If you are looking for generalized information so that you or your student walks into the test with a good understanding of the concepts that will be tested and the structure of the test, this would be worth the investment. However, it's value for practice tests is not as good.
This is not a one star because of the content. This is a one star because it is identical, page for page, of the 2014 version (published in 2013) which my daughter used last year. You would think that one year later the content would be completely different from last year's version - kids do take the PSAT more than once! She began to take one of the practice tests and remembered the first passage from last year. We took out last year's book, and lo and behold, it was the exact same book. Order from a different company if you used the Princeton Review's 2014 book last year.
I purchased this guide for my 9th grader. I found it helpful to divide the information up with tabs so it didn't appear overwhelming, and she could better manage her time while studying it. This guide was very thorough and my daughter thought it was helpful.
This book gives helpful hints, explanations, and drills along with 2 full length practice tests.I would highly recommend the study guide to students preparing for the PSAT. :)
Lots and lots of info in this book. I got it for my 9th grader, and my 8th grader will begin the 2nd copy I procured shortly.
My son is a junior in high school and this was a helpful resource to help him understand what the PSAT is like.
My son said the book is full of grammar mistakes. Some answers are very ambiguous.
