This book may be adequate for someone who has the material down cold and wants a simple review. However, DO NOT use it as a primary source for self-study. It lacks many concepts and terms needed for the actual exam, not to mention the book itself has no practice questions or free-response practice. If you want a good book for self-study or end-of-year review, go with Princeton Review or Barron's (< only if you have a lot of time). This book will help you get 3, 4 at the very most if you're lucky.
I tell my tutees all the time to practice, practice, practice. Two of my kids (who are B students) studied off this Crash Course book in addition to Kaplan and The Princeton Review, and they got 5s on their AP Test!
This book easily condenses lots of information in a really straightforward way. I also like some of their tips and examples they gave to understand hard to grasp concepts! I got a 5 on my AP psych, and a large portion was because of this books help!
Used the AP crash course to self-study for the AP Exam. Overall great book and gives you almost everything you need to know. With this book, I got a 4 on the AP Psych exam and felt more confident than most students taking the APPSY test with me,LOVED the vocab section; the exam is mostly about vocab and ideas, going over vocab extensively was a key role in my success of the exam.
My students loved this book. After swimming in an ocean of material all year, the students were able to focus their review on key terms. It doesn't replace a textbook and a year of discussion and exercises, but it helps the students recall and remember what they have learned.
This is by far one of the best review books I have ever seen, straight forward for all knowledge concepts and highlights all vital information necessary to know for the AP Test.
