I am 72 years old and have had trouble memorizing materials for several years. So, I was concerned about studying a language, particularly one as unfamilar to me as Greek. However, because of my strong personal interest in biblical studies, I decided to spend some time learning the basics of the Greek language.I explored several products, and decided to try Bill Mounce's basic program in biblical Greek. At first, I only looked at the textbook "Basics of Biblical Greek--Grammar". I soon found out that Bill Mounce has several products about biblical Greek, but the materials are all intertwined. He even has a website with additional learning opportunities. The product I am reviewing here is a 'workbook' that can be used with the textbook 'Basics of Biblical Greek'. I would recommend that a person not purchase this workbook unless they own the textbook. This workbook contains exercises to assist the student in learning biblical Greek, and is dependent on having access to materials in the textbook. It is 'old school' like when I was in grade school and used a workbook to complete exercises in my English class. The individual pages are perforated along the edge and can be torn out, worked, and placed in a three-ring binder for storage. To date, I haven't torn any pages out of my book. I just write on them and leave them intact. The book begins with exercises on the 'alphabet', 'breathing marks', punctuation, and syllabification. The book then moves to chapters on nouns and the use of definite articles, prepositions, adjectives, and personal pronouns. Chapters on verbs and their tenses follow those on nouns. While the student is learning these basic tools of the language, there are exercises to complete on pronunciation and vocabulary.
