Awesome Book To Increase Your ASVAB Score. As an ASVAB tutor, I encourage you to buy this book. Use it to strengthen your skills. The areas covered are those needed to make a good score on the AFQT part of the ASVAB. The CD-ROM has 2 great practice tests. Another awesome book is ASVAB Basic Training for the AFQT. It was written by the same author, Dr. Janet Wall. I use both books in my ASVAB classes. My most recent student increased his score by 163%...from 24 to 63! Andy [...]
I bought this book knowing that my trouble areas were in math. I haven't had a formal math class in about 10 years, so I knew I was was rusty. This book provided a series of clear explanations and numerous drills. I recommend to do ALL the drills, as they build onto each other. I swallowed my pride, and even completed the simple addition and long division problems.The ASVAB goes very quickly and speed is crucial. The quicker you can do a long division problem, for example, the more time you have to do the rest of the problem (some require multiple steps) or complete another more complicated problem. When I took the test, I found that some questions were slightly more complex than I expected. Luckily, I felt confident in the areas that I practiced in (from this book), which freed my brain up to tackle tougher problems.I was very satisfied with my ASVAB/AFQT scores. If you want to have more options for jobs, I recommend investing in this book. Also, from what I've read, the job you have your heart set on might not become available by the time you enlist. Having good scores will give you more flexibility and options if you're put in the position of having to choose another job. Good luck!
The book was brand new, easy to understand and got right to the point. It also gave helpful tips witch was nice.
This book has many excellent practice tests as well as explanations for problems worked. Great asset to students preparing for the ASVAB.
It was everything I was looking for in a gift for my nephew. I hope it gets him the score he wanted.
