I immediately had problems installing this software. I used the 2010 software last year and had no problems, the software was a program, the 2011 version is a web-based program that uses your browser. I tried installing in and kept getting errors even after trying what's mentioned on Wiley's website. I called Wiley's support and was happy with their service, although the wait time was pretty long. They sent me an e-mail on how to fix the error, I tried it and it worked so I was happy with that.However, the actual software is difficult to navigate and learn. Once you do kinda learn it, the browser-based functionality is not the best. Additionally, there are problems with the program. For example, when you do the simulation authoritative 'search,' once you type something into search it says 'searching' but never stops (i.e. never finds anything). The content overall is good but I can't rate it over one star due to the technical issues and the non-user friendly format of the software. Not worth the price.
Good review for the CPA exam and MUCH cheaper than some others. I have not had the time to commit to it so will have to see how the updated books work when I am ready to get started again. Wish the pages were thicker and not as newspaper like.
Technically I'm reviewing the online version of this program rather than the CD because the CD never worked on my computer. Wiley technical support was very helpful on my second go around for assistance. The first person tried to be helpful but was definitely lacking in technical knowledge. He emailed me the fix that normally works but didn't work for my computer and had no idea what to do at that point. The second person attempted to fix the problem by remote access for over two hours and gave me access to the online version after he was unable to get it working. He told me that the two versions were identical. I thought it was great for the MCQ. There are several hundred problems and there is very little overlap with the problems in the Wiley text. Two features I liked are the ability to customize your tests by topic e.g. bonds, governmental, etc. or by question characteristic e.g. missed at least a certain number of times, never seen before, etc. I liked being able to go through the questions in study mode because it gave me immediate feedback on my answer. I also liked that it gave me the time per answer because it helped me improve my speed which is essential in order to finish the exam within the allotted time. There were a few typos, but most of them were obvious when you saw the answer so the incorrect questions weren't misleading. The SIMS are not as good as the MCQ. You can't specify the question features as with MCQ and the scoring is often erroneous because it counts an answer wrong if you write an equation in a different order than the test bank version. Also, the research tabs only include those sections of the ASC that are applicable to the research questions in the test bank so it isn't as difficult as the actual exam. It does give you practice for the types of SIMS you're likely to see on the exam. I passed the exam on my first try and feel that this program was a big part of that success.
Questions covered all topics need to know for 2012. Easy Install on 4 of my computers. Anyone who has trouble with install has a primitive computer. Questions were like those I have seen on exam. Has more MCQ and simulation than Becker, although Becker lecture is better than Wiley Lecture, because Wiley does not have lecture.
