I'm a medic for the Army and in order to graduate AIT, we had to take a 7 week EMT course and pass the NREMT within 3 attempts. We were given Emergency Care (12th Edition) which frankly, had a lot of unnecessary BS and was a bit confusing for someone new-ish to EMT in general. It also had some outdated care procedures (in the hemorrhage section) and there was a lot left out that should have been covered, but wasn't. I went with one of my battle buddies over to Barnes & Noble and we both got this book a couple weeks before we took the NREMT. She was the one who suggested we get this book after she looked into it.I flipped through the pages after I bought the book and I was genuinely surprised at how condensed the information is in comparison to the other book (the other book is a college book). Things that weren't making sense to me in my class started clicking as a result of studying this book because they would break it down without making it super wordy and giving us totally unrelated or unnecessary information. There was even information that wasn't covered in the other book (in the cardiology section in particular) that I ended up seeing on the NREMT.One thing this book does is give you a study plan on 2-months, 1 month, and 1 week. It has quiz sections after each particular part and a diagnostic one in the beginning of the book, and in the answer key, the explanation is very well explained. It has nice clean diagrams on different parts of the body, and it gives you a section on other things that are recommended to review, which I found especially helpful to me because I saw a lot of those on the NREMT as well.
