This was not a help to me. I still passed, but I found out later that this book is dated. They don't do tests like this anymore. So I studied this thing and then the actual test was nothing like this.
Lots of spelling errors, missing words. I could get over that, but on the math instructional portion, there are incorrect explanations and solutions, making using this to brush up or learn the math counterproductive. Seemed hastily put together, and it's from 2009.
This was actually a pretty good book, I purchased it along with another ATF special exam prep book, this book was pretty informative. I did take and pass the special agent exam, the math section was far less difficult than the practice questions in this book so I think it prepared me well. Overall worth the purchase, I looked through a lot of resources and did a lot of on-line prep, this was by far the most useful but don't assume that just studying this book will help you pass, I used a lot of resources and all of them overall I think helped in the long-run.
This book was very helpful in helping me pass the ATF SA Exam. I felt very prepared for the test after taking the practice tests. I did feel that the questions in the book were a little tougher than the actual test.
I bought this book to help prep for the ATF exam and I must say the books math portion is a lot more intense then the actual test. This book was made in 2009 when the ATF still utilized the treasury exam, however the test now is specifically toward ATF. I will say if you can pass the practice exams in this book you will have no problem with the extremely short ATF exam. This is definitely a "practice harder than you play" book.
This is the best guide for the new version (no math portion) of the FBI phase I test. There are three practice tests that include topics on phase I. The logical reasoning portion is the closest to the actual test. It doesn't however, contain any negative statements ie: from the information listed above, it CANNOT be concluded...If you are thinking of taking phase I, read the instructions on the FBI website and use this guide! Identify your strengths and weaknesses before you take the test that really counts! There are other topics like math that are covered in tests with other federal agencies.Cheers!
This book helped me prepare for the test and ultimately pass it successfully on the first try. I had a lot of background in math up through calculus but I had not done math by hand in years. I struggled with a lot of the questions in the book. For me I already knew a lot of the information about the hiring process from my own research. I would have preferred they leave that part out and add more practice problems / review materials. There were some typos in the book for the most part this wasn't an issue. I looked a good bit for other review books and this one was by far the best rated. There are a few other options out there but after looking into them none seemed worth buying.
This book got me all the way through the process with the ATF. I killed every phase thanks to the knowledge I obtained in this book. Without it, the special agent exam would have been IMPOSSIBLE.
