The book is 10 times more difficult that the actual test even if the title of exam is 'Senior'. Couldn't be more prepared for general and more specific exam! made test look like cake! make sure you finish all of it including the 4 tests in the back. When you make a mistake go in the back and read the correct answer including the explanation' this is how you really learn. Some of them are too long but it is worth it.
It is a general case worker book. A lot of the material in the book had small information on all types of case workers and as a result it wasn't as helpful as I thought it would be. This is not good as a study guide but good as an intro guide to all types of case working.
This book has plenty of practice that helped me prepare for the exam, since I get anxiety when I take exams; this book was a lot harder than the actual test I took for a County job, but that was very good for me because it helped me pass my exam and score high. I give this book 5 stars!! I highly recommend this book.
I was given this book to prepare for an MSW level position, and found it to be way too general in some areas and way too specific in others (several questions pertain to laws in New York City). I also found it to contradict itself frequently and provide information that I know to be wrong for the positions I am testing for.That said, it does get you in the practice of reading questions carefully and going through the tons of multiple choice questions you will be asked to answer on an exam. I haven't read any other books to compare it to, so it could be slightly helpful in preparing someone for the exam setting. I just don't agree with many question/answer pairs and found many that were completely irrelevant and frustrating to try and answer.
great for review if taking the test
I purchased this book in order to prepare for the NY Suffolk County civil service exam for Case Worker (trainee). When I took the exam, it was nothing like what I went over and studied in the book. It may be beneficial for someone living somewhere else as I am not sure what exams elsewhere are like. But for me it was pointless.
I took the test for case management and this book did helped me a lot. Perhaps study from the test answers.
