This is an excellent resource!! I used it for the purpose of passing the GACE and I succeeded! Just follow the directions included in the study guide at the front and study a little each day. It works!! There are step by step directions and you can pass too! The real test is set up this same way! There are no mysteries to unravel and if you use this as a guide then you are only preparing yourself for success when you take the actual test. Simply follow the directions laid out for the user and the knowledge will come. I do not take tests well, but I passed the GACE Basic Skills 200, 201, 202 when I used this aid!GACE Basic Skills 200, 201, 202 Teacher Certification Test Prep Study Guide (XAM GACE)
You have to pay attention and watch for errors in this study guide. I found several. For example, on page 55 it says that 1 fl oz is equal to 15 ml which is incorrect.I found it helpful to use a combination of this book and online tutorials which helped me clear up any questions I had.
Excellent study source to prepare for the GACE Basic Skills. It has everything thing you could need, and the actual test is setup parallel to the books information. My only complaint would be that it doesn't give you enough examples in the math section. However, that can be rectified by checking out a math review book at your local library. Overall, I was extremely pleased with its layout and you'll go no wrong choosing this book.
This book was very helpful for me before taking the test. It is a great refresher if it has been a while since you had fractions and things like that.
The amount of typos and errors in this book is ridiculous. I found them throughout the math and writing section. This made it very difficult to use this as a practical study guide. After finishing this book I followed it up by visiting the study companion that is offered on the GACE website. Majority of the review questions in the companion on the website were so different from what they review in this book I immediately felt I was in a sense ripped off by purchasing this book. I found very few things about this book helpful and would not recommend purchasing it if you are serious about getting prepared for this test!
This book gave me an idea of what would be covered on the test but I found after taking the test that it was very out of date. The new test covers different material and has essays that this book doesn't even cover. The math section was easier in this book than the actual test which covered a lot more geometry. I wouldn't recommend this book unless you just want to use it to brush up on your basic knowledge.
