A textbook is a textbook, there's only so good they can get, but this one is one of the better ones. This book accomplishes one of the main ideas of being an anthropologist: be informative without judging. They present a wide variety of cultures and customs while also providing interesting history and stories. It was one of the more interesting textbooks that I've had to read and it did a decent job of keeping my attention. Good luck in your course!
Great book, I got it for a class i'm taking for college and it's really easy to read. Well put together and very informative with out boring you to death! Even if you don't need it for school and enjoy Anthropology, I reccomend getting it.
Needed this book for my anthro class. This book is small but very informative. It packed with writing and few pictures to help the descriptions. Its an easy read and the writers really make the terms easy to understand.
Bought this book for a class. Thought it was going to be worthwhile. This book should be about half as many pages of what it is. It repeats itself so much, it feels unorganized as well. You will read one thing in the first chapter and find yourself reading the other half on the last chapters. There is a lot of unnecessary information that doesn't relate in some areas. At some points you're like, " why is this even in this book, what a waste of time". I give 3 stars because there was at least some things i did enjoy. The most they should charge is $20 for this book.
Great book covering the subject. Lots of illustration and clear explanation of key terms. No color photos in the book though.
Very good read. I got this textbook for a class and ended up reading cover to cover. I appreciated all the stories and examples of different cultures from around the world.
I ended up not needing the book for the class I took and was glad, the book I rented has writing and highlighting all through the book. I have rented several other books for classes through and they were in great condition, so I was rather disappointed with this one. The book itself is an interesting read, just too much writing and stuff.
First text book I've been assigned that I actually read cover to cover.
