We used this textbook for a humanities survey course at my high school. My teacher said it was the finest he'd seen out of dozens, and after using it for his class, I have to agree. The art, maps, pictures, and everything help bring the past to life, and the text, while easy to read, says everything it needs to.
I used this for my class at University of Phoenix it had all the info. that I needed and it was in very good condition with no marks.
This was a text book required by my professor and it was cheaper here than at my schools bookstore. The book is detailed, helps with some pronunciations of names, and gives little hints while reading.
This is the first time I've used an "a la Carte" edition text book. Since the pages lay flat, it's easy to make them stay open while I read and scan. Carrying around only those chapters I need to study from, has been a great convenience. This is a well-organized text book and is easy to follow.
I enjoyed my History of Art in Humanities class that I took and this book taught me a lot. If you are looking to take a humanities class and this is the text assigned to you, it's very informative and delves into the meanings proposed for certain artworks, as well as leaving things open-ended for you to ponder on and make your own personal opinions. Definitely a great text!
Question: I'm going to take Clep Humanities and I think this book will be enough. However, what does volume 2 mean? Is this book humanities for a certain period covering the latter period. Is volumne1 cover a prior period that might not be in the clep test. Or is this book the only book I need to pass clep humanities.
Bough this textbook for a Western Civilizations history class. The professor hardly used it, as it focuses primarily on the arts, as the title suggests. Not too much raw history, if that is what you are looking for. Nonetheless, it was delivered and received in a well manner.
The book seemed to be very new. There were not bent pages, no highlighter or markings of any kind throughout the book, and the covers were still very glossy. There was not one problem with this product.
