While I have yet to find a history textbook that isn't a dry read, the information in this book is clear, complete and well written. There are great visuals, graphs and maps that lend to the text. I probably wouldn't have purchased this as a personal reading choice, however I do understand why my history professor chose this book. Also, I love how compact it is in comparison to a normal hardcover textbook. I received this copy used and cannot even tell it had been used, it is in perfect condition. It has held up well in being carried around for 2 months continuously.

Beware if you're renting the e-book! My professor told me that this e-book is the 'brief edition'', therefore it's missing some key Primary Source sections, among other things. I rented the e-book for value and convenience, but ended up paying the ultimate price. My professor requires us to analyze the Primary Sources; I can't do my assignments with this book because a majority of the Primary Source sections are omitted. Now it looks like I'm going to have to pay an arm and a leg through my college bookstore to get the physical copy of the book that has all the material.

I really learned a lot, it doesn't give a history of just boring battles between kings, but common people, culture, art, writings.

Required reading for one of my classes. Good quality, exactly what I needed.
