Many of the stories, in this anthology, can be read online (they are in the public domain. This was handy, because this book is fragile, heavy, and bulky. It would be better for the publisher to authorize an e-book version, so students don't break their back, adding it to their backpacks; to cart back and forth to school.On the positive note, the stories chosen for this book, were diverse and interesting.
I have to say, this book has really proven itself. It is completely cohesive and organized in such an appropriate manner. Physically, the book is heavy load, to say the least, but that is only a reflection of the amount of reading material there is to study. It's a great companion in my Englsih Lit. class, and I would recommend it to any student you is studying up on Medieval Lit.
Little has changed in this anthology except things have moved around in it making it difficult to follow the pages of a professor using the 8th edition. Otherwise, it's a fantastic review of British literature spanning over a century.
The condition of this book wasn't too bad, although there was some slight water damage done to it that wasn't disclosed in the information. However, this will be great for my Traditions of British Literature class I'm taking this fall, as well as a great addition to my collection of Norton Anthologies to use as a future high school English teacher. Very quick delivery.
I think this is a must read reference book for anyone interested in literature. Unfortunately, I rented it for school over a year ago. I wish I would have bought it because I find myself trying to recall elements of English Literature off the top of my head and not being able to remember :(
I needed this as a textbook and rented it through instead of buying/renting it from the bookstore. What a difference in cost!! It would have cost at least $100 from the bookstore (used), and I was able to rent it for under $30! So pleased. It did have some writing in it, but it was all in pencil.Overall, renting this book was very much worth the extremely reduced cost, the few marks did not hinder my work at all. I would highly recommend renting this textbook from to any fellow students.
Large book, well written. Reasonable textbook price for the size. However, not too thrilled with the quality of the pages. I understand that they need to be that thin on a 3,000+ paged book in order to even be usable, but the pages are super thin/delicate.
I bought this book for an Engligh Literature class, it is very bulky, but contains so much there is no other way they could cram so much into anything any smaller! This book remains on my desk, and always will.
