This is the only Bible Atlas you will every need. It can be read alone or as part of a Bible reading plan. This is more than a simple atlas, it stands alone in its completeness and unsurpassed maps, diagrams and illustrations. It contains what you would expect from a first class atlas; maps of all the classic routes, Exodus, Babylon, Jesus' and Paul footsteps. A map of every town, city, country and empire discussed in the Bible. Each map or diagram is accompanied by several paragraphs of history and background. Where this atlas exceeded my expectations was in its detail. For example, the course that Jesus followed as he crossed the Sea of Galilee, the Roman destruction of Jerusalem and Masada, etc. the rise of ancient Empires that so effected the Jews. Bottom line, the one atlas that will meet all your expectations.
I'm an archaeology student and use this atlas as a reference for a quick overview of a specific event or region as applied to the history and archaeology of the ancient biblical world. Anson Rainey, arguably the world authority on the historical geography of the biblical period, recently released, The Sacred Bridge, which is a more in-depth, technical version of the same subject matter treated in this work, but this atlas, which Rainey and Safrai revised, is an excellent, general reference work for any library.
I have looked over a number of bible atlases and none come close to the scholarship represented in this one. Most bible atlases excel in presentation quality (i.e., beautiful color maps, etc...). This one is pretty basic in that regard because it is essentially black and white maps (although it is described as 'two color'). Where it is without peer is in the informational quality. This atlas was authored by four Jewish professors who were very knowledgeable and it really shows! If you are a student of the bible you must acquire and own this atlas. It's worth the high price.
This product exceeded my expectations in terms of the vastness of knowledge and diversity of topics utilized in this Atlas. I have never had an Atlas as detailed as this and so easily read and understood. The author of this book obviously went to great lengths to create this theological study item and for that I am truly thankful. I have many other biblical atlas/map literature but none as comprehensive as this book. I truly recommend it for your library and your individual study.
I ordered this atlas as a Christmas gift for my husband. I knew he wanted one, but I had no idea it would be so hard to find. I found it several places online, but there was always a problem getting it. When I placed the order through , I felt confident that I would be able to rely on a safe and timely delivery. I was amazed how quickly the atlas was received. And although it was second-hand, it was in very good condition. My husband loves it. He was thrilled to receive it. Thank you so much!
I ordered this for my husband and he is very happy with the book. It is detailed and complete. It would be for the person really interested in Bible study and knowing about the areas surrounding Bible times.
The book covers the areas that help put in context and geograpy of Biblocal times. A visual and verbal presentation. It was the book I had been looking for as a Sunday School teacher.
I was very pleased with the condition and contents of this fine volume. This was what I was hoping for!
