This collection is a sequel to her beloved books, and a snapshot into twentieth-century living.

Getting a chance to review "The Selected Letters of Laura Ingalls Wilder" was a mini dream come true for me. I consider myself an avid fan and scholar of Laura Ingalls Wilder. At eight years old I bought the Little House on the Prarie set with money I had saved from birthdays and chores. I read and re-read these books until the paperbacks were literally falling apart. As an adult, I read the books about once every year. I buy every book that comes out about Laura Ingalls and/or her daughter Rose Wilder Lane. Just last year I took the online college course about Laura Ingalls Wilder and her work. Two years ago I took a trip from my home in Indiana to Mansfield Missouri to see the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum. (My bucket list includes a trip to every home site)."The Selected Letters of Laura Ingalls Wilder" features letters from and to (occasionally, most are from) Laura. This book opened up a completely new experience in my studies and love for LIW. Why? Because these were Laura's own and unedited words. They cover a span of time of sixty years. The majority of these letters were written by Laura when she lived in that beautiful Mansfield farmhouse. There are quite a few letters between Laura and Rose about day to day activities in their lives as well as information about the editing and publishing of the Little House books. There are also a lot of letters from Laura to children/teachers/fans who wrote her after her books became so famous.I learned some new things about Laura, which I didn't think was possible. There was a delightful letter Laura wrote about her postman and his poor delivery services. There are some tales of the two boys that Rose took in and cared for.
