As a writer and wrestling fan I have written a few poems about wrestlers. I can honestlytell you that "The Dead Wrestler Elegies" is a book I wish I had written. As stated inprevious reviews (I mean, come on, this makes it 7-for-7 in 5-star ratings), it isn't justa book of poems about deceased grapplers. It's also about the relationship between fatherand son, mother and son, and about loss. If you're a lover of poetry, you don't need to bea rasslin' fan to appreciate these poems; although, you may find yourself learning somethings or reminiscing over names like Gorgeous George, Killer Kowalski and Andre the Giant. If you're a wrestling fan, don't let the fact that this is poetry scare you. You will lovethese poems and no one will call you a nerd for reading them because there's a skull onthe cover and drawings inside of the likes of the Super Destroyer and Bad New Brown. How perfect is that?By the way, yes, there is a poem about "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig in here and it istremendous. The illustrations, also done by Kaneko, are wonderful. The quotes introducing the poemsare great. The titles are fantasic - "Flowers for Adrian Adonis," "Where There's Blood,There's Freddie Blassie," "Bruiser Brody Finishes This Thing," just to name a few. Each poem is so beautifully written that, if you're a wrestling fan, your favorites mightbe determined by who your favorite dead wrestler is. For example, I was thrilled reading"Autograph from Eddie Gilbert"; I loved the opening lines of "Ain't No Cage Can Hold MadDog Sawyer"; and I wanted more of the "Selected Legends of Andre the Giant.
