Incredible imagery. Arthur has a fascinating way of blending observation and emotion. His words are like getting into a boat and drifting down stream, seeing a moving landscape that is both horrifying and wonderful at the same time.
Arthur Sze's Compass Rose is a solid poetry collection. Sze uses multiple ideas and many strong images within a poem. This forms each poem into a coherent idea. His thoughts breeze up in the poems, even though they must have taken a lot of planning. This collection is complex and yet understandable. It is a poetry book I will keep and revisit many times.
