I got this book because it was required for my class. I would not personally buy it otherwise, but it has some very important information about our society's history that is good for people who are planning to become (or are already) an educator.
Joel Spring has a gift. In his simple and straightforward way he lets the reader know exactly what went on, is going on, and what may eventually happen if no one does anything to intervene or right the wrongs that have been made. There is no swaying or bias in his writing, but simple and plain facts. I thoroughly enjoyed reading his book....some chapters more than others, but all were good.
The material in this book has taught me a lot of how the struggle for equity continues to be a challenge for minorities even in today's world. We've made strides in race relations and improvement of equality but the fear and the constant move to take away peoples culture continues and leaves minorities asking if true equity is even possible. Good book!!
This is a book all educators should read. It tells about the backgrounds of our students and gives you better insight to some struggles they may have been up against. Great read.
This book was purchased for a multicultural education course. It was more of a political or historical text than anything on education, but was very informative.
This book came in horrible condition. There is pen and highlighter everywhere inside and barely readable text. Not "good" condition as stated!
