Both were great books. Fun to read and hard to put down - even though you know the ending. Lots of great facts about JWB and LHO that I did not know before or had forgotten. The pace is fast with no dull time at all.
Kennedy is my time period, and like every American a lot is owed to Lincoln. I like this author because I feel that he makes clear what is factual and what is opinion. I like that he explains how he arrives at his opinions.
I love history and both these book are well written, they are written in such a way that you can not wait to read the next chapter. They are not like your old high school or college history books. They are written like a drama or a story using facts and historical data. I thought I was pretty good at history...that is... until I read these books. I won't give away the facts or story lines, but that history books never tell you this stuff. I will say I learned something I never learned in school.
Both books were outstanding. They are very easy to follow everything is in the order in which it happened. I did find in the book killing Lincoln, it seemed the final hour before the assassination was a little to drawn out, so I skipped ahead. Besides that, they were very light enjoyable reads. I can't wait for the next Killing book to come out.
I found this to be a very good read. While many of the facts have been known for years there were many additional facts, background information which placed many situations, etc into context.Just prior to his inauguration I received a letter from JFK in response to a poem I wrote as a school project and which my elementary school principal sent to the Senator Kennedy. Thus, I have always been fascinated by him and his administration.I feel this book does good justice to the memory of a very special president.
Bill O'Reilly has several books along these lines and all of them are great reads. My personal favorite is Killing Patton, but these on Killing Lincoln and Killing Kennedy are terrific, too. O'Reilly brings up all sorts of facts and information surrounding these deaths and the flow of writing is easy to read and understand. I highly recommend them!
Killing Lincoln was very enjoyable with the description of a time long past, events of the civil war and the strife of the nation.Killing Kennedy had it's moments, but was not as compelling as Lincoln.
Both books are excellent. Mr. O'Reilly has once again done a great job of providing the truth and making the books enjoyable to read. I have read most of his books and have not found an issue with any of them. I would highly recommend all of his works.
