Children in their own voice capture special school moments in the unique book, from learning to read to singing a favorite song to sharing stories. The voice recording is permanent; it is not lost when the book s batteries are changed.Record a Memory: School Years is divided into 10 sections, one each for preschool, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, fourth grade, fifth grade, sixth grade, seventh grade, and eighth grade. Each section has a storage pocket to fill with class pictures, report cards, artwork, projects, and awards. The book also includes written prompts and fill-in-the-blanks such as height, teacher s name, friends, activities, and goals.Recording a voice is easy. Follow these directions: Choose the grade to record. Press the RECORD button and the GRADE button at the same time. Hold them down until you hear a beep, and then begin recording. When finished recording, press RECORD again. Press the GRADE button to hear the recording. Re-record until you are satisfied with the recording. Repeat the process for each grade. Set the locking switch to ensure that the recording won t be inadvertently erased. Please note that in order for the book to function properly it must be recorded on a flat surface and in a well-lit area, so that the holes located on the right side of the book have an unobstructed view of a light source. The same conditions are also required for proper playback.

My kids enjoyed recording themselves sharing their favorite school activities. There is a clever switch by the battery compartment to lock in the recordings and prevent accidentally recording over what you want to keep. It takes a few AAA batteries and not annoying "button" batteries. Sturdy construction, nice layout, pockets to hold artwork and other projects -- it's got it all! This is a great way to keep treasured memories organized. I highly recommend it. It's $5 cheaper at than at Toys R Us.
This book is a cute idea, but in reality it is just okay. The first one I received was broken and quickly and happily replaced it. The second one I received worked but the recording quality is very poor. I tried my best to get quiet conditions while recording but even so there are many crackles and static sounds when you playback. It does not seem to accurately record the child's voice, the whole point of the book!
I thought these were super cute (and a great price) so I ordered them for all my nieces and nephews as gifts. When they arrived all the covers were damaged and bent. I looked at the fine print and realized when says "bargain price", the book is new but damaged. Unfortunately I had to send them back because I couldn't give something like that as a gift! I did keep the one that was the least beat up for my daughter who is 18 months, so I haven't actually used it yet.Love the idea and it is really cute.Just not the quality you would probably want. I'd rather pay full price and have a nice one.I haven't used the recording part yet so I can't review that aspect.
This memory book is fantastic! I purchased one several years ago for my son, and the recording feature still works. Based on the past quality, I am confident this one will work just as well for my two-year-old girl.
I bought this book at Hallmark for my son a few years ago and wanted to get one for a friend whose daughter is starting pre-k this year. I love the book, however this particular one delivered to me had scratches and looked worn. It is a great memory book!
I love the Memory Book. However, I was a little disappointed by the way it was packed. I purchased three of them and they were all shipped in the same box without any packing material. They offset them and the one in the middle got bent a little bit from the other two pushing on it. I think they could have been packed better to prevent it from bending.
I purchased a similar book for my son at a southern living party before my daughter was born and now she has outgrown her baby book so I needed one for her! This is the cutest book love it!!
I bought this for both of my children. It's great because you have pouches for each year and record their voice each year so you'll always have their voice saved by grade.
