My seven year old daughter loves this book. She had a blast reading it to me and then quizzed me afterwards. There were only a few words she needed help with but she had fun learning what they meant. The story refers to two families, one seemingly new to lupus and the other child explaining her experiences to the first. There are many lol moments as you relate this to your own life with lupus. Well lol for me that's how I deal and now my child is old enough to explain to but before that there wasn't anything cute about it. Now I feel she has a better understanding it's simplified for kids but it is enough to be helpful for younger children being that it's so complicated it may even be helpful for the annoying adults who refuse to acknowledge that lupus is very real. ts really cute book inside and out. I recommend this for parents of small children it even touches on mom at field trips and how to spend time with mommy while she sleeps. I'm baby already had it figured out she's been dealing her entire life but it's nice to see a book about it so she knows that there are other families like ours with the lupus kind of love.
This book barely skims on what a mother fighting lupus goes through. I wish it has gone into more depth and discussed how children might feel about and deal with the issues.
As an author of a book myself I appreciated the wording. I have lupus and I have children who enjoyed this book.
