It is a very nice collection with both introductions to the authors before the stories and introductions to the time periods from which the author's were writing. The introductions for the authors held the reader to understand the writers background and where they may personally be coming from in terms of writing. The introduction to the time frame help to put the reader in the right mindset and point of history from which to consider and read the stories. Both help the reader to understand the stories better and derive more meaning from them.
The book came and is rough. It said it was in "very good condition." The pages are water stained and dirty. I feel kind of gross touching it to use it for school. I wouldn't have minded it as much if it was labeled correctly. It should have said the product was in "decent condition" and also charged less. I am VERY disappointed. Now I am stuck because I am in the middle of my class and have to use it for now.
Make sure if you buy this book from  that all the pages are in the book. I'm missing pages 577-608!!!!!!!
Outside of book is in very rough condition upon arrival. No markings on pages but there is tearing along where the cover meets the spine (at all four points) and it is very rough around the edges. Appears as though coffee or some other substance was spilled on last 50 pages and left to dry at some point. The rest of the book appears to be in okay condition.
This anthology both vol. 1 and vol. 2 served a purpose. Readings were crucial literary readings authored by women. That being said the only issue is the cost of the item, which is a bit on the pricey side.
A lot of useful reading packed into the volume. The writing is small and strains the eyes. Consider a magnifier. Otherwise, I highly recommend if you love reading some of the best writing.
I brought this book for an on-line course titled "Women In Literature". I dropped the course, but I still have the book and will use it when I take the course again in class.
Came as described! Underlines on a few pages but it does not bother me.
